         <title>GeoGebra is a super helpful and engaging online math tool because it allows a lot of opportunities for student/teacher interaction. For example, teachers can create a Google classroom with the GeoGebra link. The two components that make up this Google classroom are a lesson and a practice. </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The use of GeoGebra is supported by Van De Walle through the use of area models. On page 377 of the textbook, it states that "circles are an effective visual for adding and subtracting fractions." GeoGebra integrates the use of modeling because students are able to see the actual image of what a fraction looks like and helos to differentiate between the sizes of different pieces. The number line available in GeoGebra shows students how to estimate and then explain how they added by the use of drawing the fraction circles. I personally have used GeoGebra in other math classes and I think it is a user friendly tool.&nbsp;<br><br>Rachel Kessler 10-5-22</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In the textbook written by Van De Walle, in chapter 14 on page 341 it states that " Area is a good place to begin fraction exploration because it lends itself to equal sharing and partitioning. Circular Fraction Pieces are the most commonly used area model. The circular model reflects the part-whole concept of fractions and helps students see the relative size of a part of the whole object."&nbsp;<br>So going along with this GeoGebra allows us to create shapes to have students partition into fractions.          <title>Common Challenges and Misconceptions related to Fractions</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Some common misconceptions found in the textbook written by Van De Walle in Chapter 14 page 371.&nbsp;<br><br>The first common misconceptions is that the Numerator and denominator are separate numbers. Students don't see the two numbers that make up the fraction as a number.&nbsp;<br><br>The second common misconception is that fractional parts don't need to be equal-sized. Students partition the figure into unequal parts.&nbsp;<br><br>The third common misconception is that Fractional parts must be the same shape. When actually when showing fractions in shape they can be any shape as long as they are equal.&nbsp;<br><br>The fourth common misconception is that fractions that have large denominators are bigger. For example, a student thinks that 1/5 is smaller than 1/10 because 5 is less than 10.&nbsp;<br><br>- Rachel Kessler<br><br></div>]]></description>
