In 1382, the English writer Geoffrey Chaucer wrote a poem titled Parliament of birds, which is mentioned for the first time Valentine's Day as a day of celebration for lovers. From the poem by Chaucer, he began to consider Valentine's Day as a day dedicated to love. Eighteen years later, King Charles VI of France, created the Court of Love, whereby the first Sunday of each month and during Valentine's Day, a series of competitions in which participants competed were made to get partner among the courtesans maidens.
