"The fortunate are healed by childhood all their lives, the unlucky are healed by childhood all their lives." I wanted to explore intimacy as the theme of the final project, documenting my gradual process of being healed.
I have to admit the negative influence of my family of origin on me, especially in the handling of intimate relationships. I used to deliberately keep my distance in interpersonal relationships for a long time, refusing to be overly intimate yet desiring intimacy with others. I accepted a relationship six months ago and it was a huge change for me and the first time I had a relationship, before that I had very low self-esteem and insecurity. However, after confirming intimacy, we relied on each other, trusted each other and showed our true and complete selves as we should in a normal and healthy intimate relationship, which is the immediate reason why I wanted to explore this relationship.

In Antoine D'Agata's work, The Holy One, the depression and emotion in the midst of the epidemic is shown in a fusion mode of thermography, giving depression and agitation and alertness through the red colouring, making the invisible feel brought on by the epidemic through thermography, making the invisible traceable. And I wanted to use thermography as a technical means of converting thermal band information into images that reflect the heat of objects and bodies. I intend to use it to record human life and the connection between people and objects, to show proof of the existence of life by recording the existence of life that seems to leave nothing but has traces of existence as long as it exists, in order to give a different visual impact and a philosophical sense, and to make people think about the meaning of the existence of life in a new way.

https://inf.news/en/culture/6a40a78898773925793e16a1e1b14037.html

The next step was to discover the strengths of the group of photographs, being those images that were more abstract and naturalistic. We ended up selecting six images around these two criteria.

So I had to use Photoshop processes such as the repair tool and the imitation stamp tool to make these photos look clearer and more natural.

Photographing traces is one of my favourite things to do as a photographer, and in "On Photography" it says that "a photograph is a thin layer of space, a slice of time." Time is a testament to our existence, and so are these traces. In recent years both global warming and the outbreak of the new crown epidemic have made us more interested in temperature than ever before. In China, a thermal imager is placed at the entrance of almost every major shopping mall and railway station to see if a person's temperature is within the prescribed range. Normally, human vision is limited to perceiving a very narrow "visible" band of the electromagnetic spectrum. The infrared wavelengths in the spectrum are so long that the human eye cannot actually see them. This heat emitted by an object is converted into a colour image by a thermal imager, a new visual effect that often captures my attention. I thought that if I used a thermal imager to photograph traces, it would certainly bring more interest and possibilities to image creation.

Finnish scientists find Body temperature and emotions are closely linked

According to U.S. News & World Report, Finnish scientists have discovered that people around the world react to the same parts of the body when they experience certain emotions, so they have created a series of body heat maps that reflect the location of the body corresponding to different emotions.

For example, when people are angry, the head and chest 'catch fire'; when people are happy, the whole body tends to heat up; when people are ashamed, the heat focuses on the face; and similarly, when people are proud, the chest heats up, while depression leads to cold hands and feet and reduced vitality.

"We usually think of emotions as occurring only in a person's heart, but a large body of evidence suggests that emotions are implicated in a person's entire body." The study's lead developer Lauri Nummenmaa, an assistant professor in the Department of Cognitive Neurology at Aalto University of Technology in Finland, said.

A total of 700 subjects from Finland, Sweden and Taiwan were recruited for the study and asked to make natural emotional responses based on words, stories, movies and facial expressions. Afterwards, they coloured in their respective body outline charts to indicate how their internal temperature rose and fell in response to their emotions.

Each body heat map was different, but when the researchers unified them for analysis, a series of distinct patterns emerged. "Our findings show such a clear part of the body response to different emotions." Nummenmaa says he hopes the body maps will one day help in the treatment of patients with mood disorders.
