To what extent do we allow technology to run the classroom; could this be an eventual downfall to the personal side of education?

Great question. However, I don't think that technology should run the classroom, teacher should run the classroom using technology.

The way it is going it seems like technology is already running the classroom. People are taking classes all online, we are in classrooms through video with professors that are 1,000's of miles away. Pretty much the next step is not having teachers at all.

Lazy teachers may attempt to substitute their own input with tech resources. But I think that students will see through it and disengage

I do not feel that the classroom is going to be run by technology. It greatly

increases the convenience of distance learning, and enhancing what is being taught and how. But I also

feel that there is a need for personal interaction and face to face learning that technology will not replace.

A teacher should not rely on technology to do the majority of the classroom teaching. The teacher must be there

to teach, guide, and monitor the use of technology.

I do believe that with the current influence that technology has on our youth-they may learn better if they have some "computer time", however I do believe that it does not speak well of the teacher if that is all that is used.

Technology is a good thing, but there are limits on its usage just like everything else.

My concern is detachment from real world issues and personal interaction with people under daily repetition.

Technology can't lose those attributes or all will be lost.

I feel that it is up to the teacher to utilize technology as a tool not as a crutch. Using technology is certainly essential in the classroom is certaionly essential in the time that we currently live in and will be teaching in.

I agree with Aaron and Katie. As long as the teachers try to use technology as a teaching tool rather than just giving the students the technology and letting them learn by themselves, I think the main problem would be less interaction between people. It'd be really easy to transition to having classes only online with very few to no face to face interaction. This could definitely be a problem, especially if this starts transitioning from college into high school classes. In the future, I would hate to see teenagers simply stuck in their rooms all day while 'attending' classes. Though this type of extreme is unlikely (I think) at this point, I wouldn't be surprised if somewhere down the road that people started considering it.
