         <description><![CDATA[<div>-The work of Congress is so extensive and complex that lawmakers have many resources to meet their obligations, including supporting agencies like the Library of Congress.<br>-Congressional staffs grew more as lawmaking became more complex in the 1970s. Between 1977 and 2009, staff grew by over 11 percent in the House and 80 percent in the Senate.<br>-Congressional staff are divided into two basic types, personal staff and committee staff. Personal staff members work directly for individual senators and representatives. Committee staff members work for the many House and Senate committees.</div>]]></description>

Each subcommittee specializes in a subcategory of its standing committee’s responsibility.&nbsp;<br>-Select committees study one specific issue and report their findings to the Senate or the House.&nbsp;<br>-A joint committee is a committee that consists of members from both the House and Senate, formed to act as a study group that reports back to the House and Senate on a topic or bill.&nbsp;<br>-A conference committee is a temporary joint committee set up when the House and the Senate have passed different versions of the same bill</div><div><br><br></div>]]></description>
