We first learnt the opening dance which is 'Don't even know it' from 'Everybody's talking about Jamie'.
Everybody's talking about Jamie' is based off a true story inspired by Jamie Campbell who inspired the west end to turn this heart warming story into a musical. This story was episode on the BBC in July 2011, and is currently in filming to be aired as a film.
The story tells us about a gay boy called Jamie New in year 11, and he wants to be a drag queen. He is always bullied mostly by the school bully Dean Paxton. His career teacher Miss hedge doesn't have faith in him or the other students who dream about being a star and having high expectations.
Jamie gets a small job as a drag queen, and becomes so wrapped up in fame he becomes very popular at school and put effort into his dream, be designing his prom dress.
Jamie dad doesn't live with him because he believe that Jamie shouldn't be gay, and so his mum Margert writes fake cards from his dad and hides the truth about his dad from Jamie. Jamie best Friend is Pritti pasha, who has known Jamie from a young age. She engroucage Jamie to follow his dreams and tell him to wear his new high heels to the prom. When Jamie wants to go to his prom in a dress the schools says no and can only go to prom in tuck. All the students the protest by saying if Jamie can't go to prom then they won't go. Jamie turns up to prom in a white dress and when the student refused to go in, Jamie was let in.
This musical took to the stage in February 2017 at the Apollo Theatre staring John McCrea as Jamie directed by Jenny Popplewell.
For this dance we are using chairs to make the stage look like a classroom and our costumes will be made to suit our character to look like year 11 school children.
I found learning the dance was very easy and worked well with the music. We then got spilt into 2 groups of 4 and as a group we had to choregraphed the next count of 8. In my group Hollie took the lead and listen to our ideas. She choregraphed the 8 counts that was easy for us to learn and fitted in well with the music. During this time I went over these count to help me remember what happened, for example when I needed to point my two or arm. We then went over the dance a couple of times adding on our piece, which I found was easy for me to remember.

We then showed each other the whole dance that we had learnt so far including our own part.
We then had enough time to carry on in our groups and add on the next count of 8s. I suggested after we did the first 3 moves that we should do a kick ball change and slide out away from each other. We then decide to move into a square so when do the kick ball change and slide to the right with Jess, and Hollie and Racheal do the same but to the left. We then perform the dance again to be filmed.

In the afternoon we learnt the ending dance to 'This is me' from 'The greatest Showman'. I found that this was a very easy dance to learn, however, I feel that we could add some more movements in to make it more energetic. This song is sung from the circus freaks saying that they are who they are and are not afraid to be them. They have hidden away from the world but since PT Barnum put them in the show they have became more confidence with themselves.
After performing the dance a few times, we had it filmed.

The greatest showman was released in December 2017 directed by Micheal Gracey. The film is about PT Barnum growing up with nothing then raising a family with Charity, He builds a circus that involved acts with weird people from the street, like the breaded women, tattoo man etc. He gives them the spotlight to be notice, but he become to wrapped up in becoming noticed by the world that he loses his family and his business. He re builds the circus to be a traveling circus for the whole to see.
The film also involve the love between Anne an Phillip, because she is a freak and he is rich and when seen in public other rich people start to talk and laugh at them. Blood Brothers is a story about 2 twin boys separated at birth, by there mother Mrs. Johnson who has a lot of children and is very poor. She works as a house cleaner for Mrs. Lyons. Mrs. Lyons cannot have children and when she finds out that Mrs. Johnson is pregnant and is struggling to live, Mrs. Lyons ask Mrs. Johnson to give her one of the twins. The 2 boys are parted at birth and Mrs. Lyons fires Mrs. Johnson when she is always looking at her baby Edward.

Mrs. Johnson keeps Mickey and he grows up on the poor side of town, while Edward lives a rich life. The two boys meet at the age of 7 and find out that there birthdays are on the same day and become blood brothers. Mrs. Lyons moves Edward when she finds out that Edward and Mickey know each other. When they leave Mrs. Johnston gives Edward a locket with a picture of her and Mickey. Edwards where the locket all the time and when he refuse to take it off he is suspended from school. When Mrs. Lyon sees it she is in shock. She founds out that Mrs. Johnson has move near her, but was re-housed by the council and so she tries to stab Mrs. Johnson but fails.
The two boys met again when they are adults. Mickey is on pills and was housed with his girlfriend Lyndia by Edward and gets a job from him. Lyndia has been meeting up with Edward but don't knock why, and when Mrs. Lyons tells Mickey he goes crazy and grabs a gun hidden in the garden. Lyndia and Mrs. Johnson see him and runs after him to the town hall where Edward is. At the end Mickey is about to kill Edward and Mrs. Johnson tells him that Edward is his brother and Mickey shoots Edward and the police shoots Mickey.

We first went on stage and set out the opening. I knew how the performance was set out as I performed Blood Brother on Level 2 and was casted as the narrator. Everyone was given the chance weather or not they wanted to be the narrator in the opening scene and read the short monologue. I decided not too because I have done this before. In the opening scene we find the 2 brothers dead. it starts off with the narrator walking on stage first, then the 2 brother coming on stage and laying dead, then Mrs. Lyon, Sammy, Lyndia, and Mrs. Johnson. Documentary drama is a true story which ha been turned into a television series. Extra scenes and character may be added to make the show entertaining.
Verbatim is a form of words that was said in a real life situation and has been copied into documentary drama. One example is in White House Farm, there is a phone called made from Jeremy Bamber to the police saying that he has just been on the phone to his father saying his sister is going crazy and shooting her family. The transcript from the real phone call, was copied in the TV series on White House Farm.
White house farm is a true story about Jeremey Bamber who murders his parents, sister and her 2 boys. The blame was pinned on Shelia Bamber who was found dead with a gun on her chest. She took a shot to her throat and her forehead. Shelia was blamed because she was ill and diagnosed with schizophrenia.
Documented from the NHS (2019) 'Schizophrenia is a severe long-term mental health condition. It causes a range of different psychological symptoms' (pg1)
Systems can include avoiding people, not caring for self hygiene, losing interest in actives like housework, meeting with friends and family etc., Hallucinations and delusions.
Due to all of these systems Sheila was blamed for everyone's death at white house farm. The true killer was Jeremy Bamber who sneaked in through a loose widow in the kitchen. He murder his family so she could inherit the family fortune. After the 18 day trail, Jeremey ex's girlfriend told the police that it was Jeremey who killed his family.
Jeremey was then sentence to a minimum of 25 years in prison.

We got into pairs and each read the phone call script between Jeremey and the police.

Sarah first show was Blasted with extreme reactions from the press making the front page in the Daily Mail. The sow took places in a hotel room in Leeds where an older man is trying to seduce a young lady.

Sarah Kane is known for her in your face theatre shows. In total she wrote 5 plays.
Quinn (1999) tells us that Sarah was trying to kill her self on more then occasion 'On February 17, in her first suicide attempt, Ms Kane swallowed almost 150 antidepressant tablets and 50 sleeping pills. She was taken to King's College hospital' (Pg1)
The hospital was quick to saving Sarah.
After attempting she tried to kill her self more than once she we assign a psychiatric nurse.

Quinn (1999) explained the death of 'Sarah Kane went unchecked by medical staff for more than 90 minutes before hanging herself in a hospital toilet, despite the diagnosis of psychiatrists that she was suicidal and required constant monitoring' (Pg1)

Following her death her parents wanted answers as to why the hospital didn't take proper care of Sarah and lead her to killing herself.

She has lost her mum and no one is giving Lydia the emotionally support she wants. She is in the nevetherworld hoping she could find her mum, but relieased it is impossible. She become stuck and confused weather or not to carry on looking for her or to go back home. She ends up going back home but is scared that she going to forget about her mum, but father Charles makes a promise that he and Lydia can talk about her mum whenever. I have cut out the covnersattion part in this song as I .....
I believe that I can make this song believable and bring the character to life. One challenge I am facing with this is the confidence. I do feel that I have manage to break this down a little, as I asked Rachel in our class to listen to my best recording and give me feedback. I asked her because she is singing coach and i trusted her with whatever she tells me. Her feedback was I have a very good tune and lovely quality to my voice. She gave me feedback which was to only speak when needed, work on my low notes, and sing through the chest. Because of this amazing feedback I decieded that this would be a great opputinity for me to show off my singing, whilst improving on these improvments.
In order to help me overcome my confidence, I will start off by singing in front of people, like my class and friends and family. This will help me because once i sing in front of them and get their feedback, I will start to feel more confidence in myself and to sing in front of an audience.

Within the time peridod I have to help me improve my singing, I will be using Vocal Tube 3 times a 6 days a week. I will complete a warm up in the mornings and a cool down afternoon and one exerice everyday. The way this is done, is to place the tube into a bottle of water and when your doing this, it helps somethign and your training your voice in water resistance exercise. I feel that this dress suits Lydia as it looks like a gothic dress. It is also moveable for me to move around the stage. History: Edward first meet Mickey when he went playing in a different part of town. He has never met anyone like Mickey and when he found out they had the same birthdays he was excited to be Mickeys blood brother. His mother stopped the boys from meeting which made Edward upset and he started to learn slang and swear words. Edward was heart broken when he had to move houses and he went to Mickeys mother to say goodbye and she gave him a locket with a picture of her and Micky in which looks like Edward.
Edward started to settle in well in his new house and in his new broading school but never took off his locket and so he got bullied, and was excluded for a week when he refused top hand it over to the school. His mother was more upset to see the picture inside the locket.
Mickey and Edward met again when they was 15 and got fish and chips and had a catch up-. Edward was even happy when he found out that Mickey moved near him and so they started to spend more time together. Edward wanted to spend more time with Lyndia and started to look after her when Mickey when the jail and got put on pills.
Edward got a job 12 years later as a lawyers. When he found out that Lyndia was pregnant and
Mickey was getting worse he things was getting worse he decided to look after Lyndia and her while. They soon they stared dating hit decide to keeping it secret from Mickey incases he went mad.
Edward mother told Mikey all about Lyndia and Edward and so he grabbed a gun and went to find Edward to kill him. Lydia isn't scared of the couple but wants there help to try and find her mum. When she meets Beetlejuice he tricks her by getting her to say his name three times and he will bring her mum to her, but Adam and Barbara saves her. Lydia then writes a suicided note but fails to die and instead gets Adam and Barbara to haunt the house during her dad important business dinner party.

To help me with character development with Lydia, I have decided to write a diary from the day of her mother funeral. I will be explaining Lydia's life in this dairy, just like we see in the musical. We see her at the start at her mum funeral, then we see her unexpectedly being moved into Adam and Barbara house. Then she sings dead mum, then meets Adam and Barbara and tires to convince her dad to move back home by getting Adam and Barbara to scare them, but she sees Delia in Charles bed. She then writes a suicide note and meets Beetlejuice in Say my name. She gets Adam and Barbara to haunt the house and ruin her dads dinner party, but his boss isn't scared and wants to turn their house into a public haunted house. Lydia shouts Beetlejuice name 3 times and the two of them run the house. Lydia gets everything's she wants with the help of Beetlejuice, which is sung in Beautiful sound. She then gets given the handbook and she gets Adam to open it hoping she can find her mum. Beetlejuice then hurt Adam and Barbara by 'death for the dead'. Beetlejuice stops this if Lydia agrees to marry him and she does. In attempt to try and send Adam and Barbara to the neitherworld Lydia goes in their place wanting to find her mum with Charles running after her. She is greeted by Miss Argentina who tries to gets Lydia to go home. In the song What I know all the dead people sing how they want to live again but can't. When Juno sees them and finds out Lydia and her dad aren't dead, she sends the dead after them. Lydia then reliases she might not ever find her mum in the neitherworld but wants to keep looking. She is stuck about what to do in her solo song Home. In this song which is my chosen song, Lydia is stuck weather or not to stay in the neitherworld in hope that she might find her mum or go back home. She goes back home after Charles finally agrees to listen to Lydia and talk about her mum to her.
Back home Lydia take Beetlejuice by surprise and marries him in the song Creepy old Guy. After he is alive for a few seconds Lydia kills him and he saves Lydia from Juno (his mum) who comes back just to get Lydia but is killed by Beetlejuice.
Within this I aim to learn more about Lydia and not just what we see on stage. I am writing this dairy in a note book design on the Handbook for the Recently Deceased. I am using this, as it fits in well with my performance and I can use it as a prop if I deiced to.

I spent the lesson writing up this part of the song and sent it Morgan and Shane to learn. I then tired to find a soundtrack or karaoke version on the longer song with the talking but I couldn't one so I took the song with lyrics hoping to try and take out the vocals. When I tired this, it didn't work and made my music sound terrible. I decide to go to music and see if they could help me.
In music Andy said that taking the vocals off with be impossible, so me and Phil worked together and looped the music where I needed.
I found that this would work better because I really wanted to add in the acting, as I feel this would make the performance look better and would make sense compared to doing this as a solo.
Phil was able to loop this part of song 2 and half minutes, which I feel is enough time as the acting part is very emotial however, if this is too long Phil said he can cut the music. I will work with Morgan on this and see how much music we need and if the music fits.
I have chosen to asked for a Charles, because I feel it would make sense having the acting involve. Tacking is when you sew the material onto the needle in bunches and when you pull the thread throw it makes the material tight. I am using the beginners videos to help improve my voice. For 6 days a week I will complete a warm up exercise, one exercise and a cool down. I am also keeping in the acting scene for Home as I feel this makes the scene heart warming.
I have done this because I have a few weeks left before the performance and I am struggling to sing the high notes in Home. With Invisible it is sung in a higher note however, I can sing this without struggling to hit my notes.
To help me with this I have asked Helen Wilson who is singing coach if she will help me with both songs. I will then pick which song sounds better and go with that song. I will also keep training with Helen so she can help me to improve my vocals for the performance, as I am not a trained singer but I want the chosen song to sound perfect. I may also carry on with Helen after the performance so I can train and improve my singing. I also think that doing this will help me to build my confidence to sing in front of a large audience.

In this lesson me and Morgan read through the script. He sounded amazing when reading his line however, I asked him to look into Charles character. I told him when we perform I want this scene to be heart warming with a father and daughter talking about their feelings.
I went back stage to start practing my songs Home and Invisible. My confidence started to build up at this point as everyone could hear me, and said I was really good. I asked Stacey and Rachel to give me feedback on both songs. When I sung Invisible Stacey said I sounded like a Lydia as I added the emotions into my song. Rachel said my vocals was perfect for this. However they asked me if I this was long enough as I was adding the acting scene with Lydia and Charles in from Home.
When I sung Home I was struggling on the last note. Rachel said that apart from that note I sounded perfect and suggested I should stick with Home. However, Stacey said she like Invisible better as she thought I was pushing myself too much in Home.
I am confused with which song to chose so I will decied which song I choose after I had my singing lesson.
I felt more confidence as I was able to sing in front of the whole, and they were very supported. Rachel had suggested for me to use vocal warm up exercises on Spotify. She also told me when I'm singing my last note on Home to open my mouth wider.
I do need to improve on my projection, but because was not accepting to sing in front of everyone today I sung with Volume.
At the end of lesson Everyone wanted to go through all the dances. I feel that I am good in all dances but Grease. I need to remember the arms and the steps on the chorus. My aim for next week is to have the arm and steps learnt and remembered for grease.

I did plan to start blocking out my acting scene for Home with Morgan today however, this didn't happen because he needed to work on his song. I told I would like to block out the scene next Monday morning. In today's lesson all the singers got on stage and did a vocal warm up for 10 minutes.
After our warm up me and Morgan read the script but this time we really worked hard and started to sound and act like our characters. I then went over the stage directions with him because when he runs on stage I want him to run towards me and do something like grab my wrist or something to get my atiend to try and go with him, but will make me pull away from him. I then told him to stand in center stage as we won't be using the whole stage and I will run to him on the stage dircetion when Lydia and Charles hug.
We then acted this out on stage which looked amazing.

We then went over all 3 dances which I remember perfeclty. We did work on spacing when we changed spaces in Grease and This is Me as people was getting confused.

In the afternoon we ran the whole performance from start to finish. This was recorded incase we couldn't do the actual performance Ang had something to mark us on.
I found that I was really good in all of the dances. However, I got nervuse to do my performance as I was going full out. When I performed my song I asked Alex who was doing everyone's music if she could turn my music down when me and Morgan did the acting. When I performed I didn't look at anyone as I got into character and made myself feel that I was stuck and didn't know where to go. I put a lot of emotions and feeling into my song by changing the tone of my voice so that I sounded sad, angery, and confused. In the acting scene me and Morgan went full out and I felt very proud of my acting as I thought it was very conviceing. Me and Morgan worked really well on this as he was showing Charles and I saw what I wanted to see and we felt that connection of a father and daugther. A problem I faced was with the music, as I have had it looped to be long enough to do that acting part however, it went on for too long which made me feel nervuse as I was waiting for the build up in the song to start so I could finish the song.
I also used the stage to my advantage when I sung the lines
'no idea which way to go, which ever path I chose I lose ya know'
'I don't know which way home'
'is there a way back home'
'show me the way back home'
'where to next?'
'are you really in this place?'
I used the stage to walk around in different directions to try and look for a path, as Lydia is stuck she doesn't know to go home or carry on looking for her mum in the netherworld.
I also looked up above everyone as I wanted to sing to her mum, and this also helped me not to stay focused.

On the last note I used my diaphragm to hold my last note but it was very shakey and I was trying to control that note so it didn't sound pitchy. In my next singing lesson with Helen I will bring this up with her and ask for some help on this and my breath control as I think that could be causing my last note to be hard.

After my performance Ang told me that my song was perfect as I was acting through song and she said that she believed my character and how she was feeling which made me feel so proud of myself.
I have been able to build up my character for Lydia by keeping a dairy from the day of her mum funeral. I have also studied Lydia by watching her in the Broadway musical from the start and to the end, as her feelings throughout the show build up to this song.

I brought in the scarf for Morgan to wear when he is Charles. However, when he tried it on he said that it was too small to wear. I was not aware of the sizing guide so I instead told him I'll will get him a black bow tie to wear so he stills looks as a upper class father.
In the afternoon when we went over the show again, I remember all the dances well and have stared to improve each characters for the performance. We was allowed to use only the hand held microphones because due to the COVID guidelines we will only be allowed to use the handheld. I found that this wouldn't be too hard for me to adjust too in my performance. When I rehearsed my song I found that I was not very loud enough and the microphone wasn't loud enough either, but I felt that my performance is improving a lot as I understand my character. I asked Morgan to learn the script over half term because where we come back I want to do a rehearsal in my costume before we do teach and dress. I would like to do this so that I am prepared for the performance and so that I can time my costumes changes. One of my fastest costumes changes will be after my performance of Home and I will only have 5 minutes to get changed out of my Lydia costume and into my This is Me costume, which also includes changing my hairstyle into a high bun and adjusting my makeup, which will be changing my lipstick from purple and back to red.
One issue I faced was with my music that was too long. I had this filmed and the time length is 12 seconds long after Morgan leaves the stage. I am going to get music cut and remove 5-7 seconds, which still leaves me and Morgan enough time. If when I am performing on the day this is too long I will improvise by jumping around stage and being excited and maybe improvising an extra line. I will rehearse this acting scene with Morgan and time it so I know how long it needs to be and make sure that there is enough timing incase the acting is longer.
I am happy with Morgan as he is becoming Charles and understands the character. However he is still using the script and so I've asked him to learn it over half term. Also in our next rehearsal I am going to try and use my projection because one of Morgan line is related to the projection and the stage setting which 'you're right, god knows your mother knew this would happened but not this I don't think anyone could have precited this'. This line is meant to be funny and so when I get the projection up I think Morgan will understand and deliver the line in the funny way.

For my next Rehearsal I want to Improve on my projection using the microphone, so when I am being filmed on the day of the performance I will be heard loudly and clearly.
Also for my next rehearsal I am going to bring all my costume for the whole show, so I can get use to performing in my costumes, and time my costume changes.

Whilst I am singing I want a white and blue lighting on the whole stage. This is done is make the Neverworld look lonely and cold.
When Charles (Morgan) comes on stage, the lighting will go light blue. This is being done because Lydia and Charles are having a heart to heart converstaion about Emily (Lydia dead mum). I want it too still look like the Neverworld, but with a daugther and dad heart warming scene, and I don't want the blue to be too dark or we won't be seen on stage.

In This is Me we was missing 2 people and so we had to make a small change because in Grease and This is me we move into a V shape and so we decided in both just the people near set each side moves to that side of the V shape.

With my belt for Lydia's costume 2 of the pop it buttons fell off and so I buttoned up the 2 that stayed on and used one of my black hair clips, to clip it in place.
One problem I notice was that my singing needs work however, this was a problem I have dealt with since I started rehearsing but I notice that in my performance apart from the low notes my voice sounded perfect.
During This is Me, I notice that I was too early on the first time when points our fingers. During the rest of the dance I remember the dance perfectly.

I was very happy with my Home song. The projection and lighting worked perfectly and I used the projection by looking at it to convince myself that I was in the Neverworld, which made my character come to life.
With the song being looped in the middle, I had 5 seconds cut out, but I could still hear the music before the build up, which is when I started to sing again. I decided to improvise a line which was 'Yes Mum he finally listen!'. I decided to say this because Charles had stared to talk about Emily (Lydia mum) and I wanted the character feelings to build up and be excited to go home and start a new fresh life.
During the acting scene when Lydia hugs Charles I went full out and bear hugged him, where as in rehearsals I gave him a side hug but I did this because I wanted to go full out not just in my song but in all 3 dances.
For the ending postiton I threw one arm in the air and the other to the side which is what Lydia does at the end of the song Dead Mum. I did this because I felt that this fitted in well.
In all 3 dances I think everything went well, as I remembered all the dances and I dressed for all my characters and stayed in character all the time.
In Grease when I came on stage as Jan I changed my first solo part because I rehearsed doing a forward kick. However I change it to a hair flick because I felt that the kick didn't work but the hair flick did.

If I was to do this again I would ask for more time so I could make a acting scene before the song. This would to be to explain what had happen so the audience understand what Lydia is singing about and why she and Charles had an argument and then a heart to heart moment. I would also change the lighting to just blue throughout the whole because it looked exactly how I wanted it which cold and lonely.

If I get to change this perform I would choregraph a dance routine to 'That beautiful sound' from Beetlejuice. I would do this because it is would be a fun dance choregraph and for everyone to get involved with. This would also improve my dancing skills.
