In 546 b.c. a noble named Peisistratus over threw the oligarchy and was called a tyrant. Peisistratus brought peace and prosperity to the land. He began new policies meant to unify the city. During his rule , many improvements were made in Athens. After he died his son took over which made the aristocrats very mad and thought of attacking the Athens. Although he was born in a very wealthy family he didn't want aristocrats to rule over the land. By calling on a group of people, Cleisthenes was able to overthrow the power of the aristocrats once and for all. In its place he established a new form of government.
