For example if you look at the 
masthead of the preliminary task, it is very poor because it is small and not very visible. However if you look at my finished magazine front cover the masthead is very eye catching with the bold red colour and is spread across the whole page, showing how my magazine has evolved with the research I have done. Most magazines have their masthead spread across the whole of their magazine and if not is is still very big and bold making sure that it is one of the first things someone sees when looking at the magazine.

This is an important feature as it tells you what the main story is about and who it entails. Most music magazines for the cover line would use the band's name and a quote they are using in the article.For example if you look at this picture of the magazine featuring the band “30 Seconds to mars” it has the quote “How they survived their toughest year Ever”, Just reading this quote automatically tells you that the article is about how the band who have had a tough time this year emphasized by the word survived saying how it nearly cost them their lives.

However if you look at my final magazine there are hardly any spaces with a lot more detail and pictures in it. This has made the magazine look a lot more professional than the preliminary task and shows how my understanding of how a magazine should look has evolved.

If you look the at the photos that I have taken for my preliminary task you can see that they are just far away shots of different parts of the college. The cover image on the front page is simply a photo of the corridor with a person walking away which I have rotated to make it look different. These are simple ways to make an image for your magazine which are really just ok. If you look at the picture I used for my final magazine, I used high angled sideways shots with props to make the shot look better, whilst moving the lights to fit the complexion of the person in the shot. This font was hard to read from a distance which did make it stand out but is not suitable for magazine. This is different from the font I used for my final magazine as it was Cambria. Cambria is a basic font which is used as a default font because it is simple to read and is appealing.
