Regarding my team's focus on Building a Strong and Resilient Workforce, I've learnt how Singapore is actually very strong economically with the government's efforts to always constantly be relevant to the world and also upgrade the skills of the people. However, in order to be more resilient, the workforce first has to adopt a more enterprising spirit with th idea of 'Dare, Dream, Do' and not to be afraid of taking risks.

It was a really fruitful experience at the Pre-U seminar and having the chance to listen to the Minister & Experts views on Singapore issues first hand. From the Seminar, I've learnt that Singapore actually have more challenges to face now than before, such as how Singapore can continue to strive being a first-world economy, moving towards a race-blind society, closing our income inequlity gap etc. During the expert interview, the Professor from NUS raised a lot of loopholes in our current governmental structure and policies and raised a very important insight that the attributes that helped Singapore enjoy her success today could also be the same attributes that bring Singapore down in the future which made me reflected a lot on how else could we learn & improve from the current way of governance.

Pre-University Seminar was a phenomenal opportunity for us to come together across different institutions to discuss pertinent issues in Singapore today. From the dialogue with the minister to panel discussions, it was a fun learning experience where we had the opportunity to hear a myriad of views from people of all walks of life. My area of focus was on Building a Strong and Resilient Workforce. Through planning the SEA, I had the opportunity to look into this area from the grassroots level. The activity showed me that Singaporeans are indeed risk takers but still very practical. However, they are certainly not afraid to chase their dreams while putting the interests of their families and community first. The learning experiences were great but what was even better was the friends I made. The networks I now have and the relationships I will cherish for a long time to come are truly priceless.

I've learnt that it's important to continuously work to a better Singapore where dreams and aspirations can be fulfilled. Dreams and aspirations are the end goals in mind that motivates individuals to strive and work harder for a better Singapore. The minister talks and discussions have truly allowed me to better understand the needs of Singapore and what must be done to allow Singapore to prosper. One great learning experience was making new friends of people from different school. It has allowed me to see the different views people have about Singapore and the collective dream people have

The pre university seminar was a very meaningful experience as I got a better understanding on the different issues faced by singaporeans. The panal discussions and speeches made me realise how we all have different views and it is ok to have that as long as we are willing to be open we will be able to find a compromise. I've also learnt that things that have worked in the past may not be relavent now hence we need to be forward looking.

This year's Pre-University Seminar, with the theme of renewing our Singapore dream, was an engaging session whereby participants were split into different domains. My group was assigned to the environmental domain, with the topic of housing our homes: reimagining homes of the future. We researched and collected information about sustainable living from members of the public, and gained a deeper understanding of the dreams of their future, sustainable homes. It was an emotionally and intellectually stimulating experience and I've gained a wider perspective on what it's like to have a dream. I'll like to end off by sharing a quote by Minister Ong, "The strength of a person isn't measured by muscles, but by how strong the heart is", so take heart and dare to dream.

I've learnt that Singaporeans will face old challenges and new challenges in today's ever changing world. Thus, Singaporeans must learn from the mistakes made by other nations and not make the same mistakes. Also, given the rise of religious radicalisation, we must stay together socially and psychologically for Singapore is susceptible to internal conflicts. The vision that binds every Singapore generation is a common dream. The dream changes according to differing priorities, but old values are still relevant today

I learnt that singapore as a country will always face new and old challenges that arises from both globalisation and other aspects like religious tensions. I also understand that it is up to the youths to be sensitive to these types of challenges as we would be the one to mobilise change.During the pre u sem, a particular quote was mentioned, if you cannot defend what you have it isn't yours to begin with. Likewise Singapore must always be adaptive and be resilient against any threat to our culturally diverse society

I have learnt that still much has to be done to make our workforce a strong and resilient one, one that will be able to propel our future economy. Yet, the outlook is positive as the current and younger workforce is not afraid to take risks and dare to try to pursue their dreams. The practicality of the younger singaporeans is likely to be the reason for such a change. We, individual, should initiate the change first and create a workplace that encourages open communication and replaces "failure" and "mistakes" with "learning opportunities" and "ways to improve" . We also have to keep in mind that inequality although undesirable is an outcome of an essential process to develop our society into one that accepts failure and success. Singaporeans are also more likely to take risks when there are safety nets in place to reduce the costs of failure, encouraging them to take risks.
"Dream, Dare, Do"
