(2018), individuals using the Propeller inhaler reported 79% fewer asthma attacks as well as 50% more symptom free days.  

The sensor records and tracks the time, date, location, amount of medication used, and environmental factors (i.e. pollen) present during each use of the inhaler.  The use of this data allows patients to identify triggers related to their asthma attacks and providers to adjust treatment plans if inhalers are being used incorrectly or too often.  This innovative technology has the capability to remind patients to properly use their inhalers at the correct time thereby increasing compliance.  Merchant et al. 1. A strong aspect of this particular strength deals entirely with the ability to cope with problems.  Not only can this individual identify problems, they are also able to suggest and produce solutions.  This strength is particularly useful in a group involving those strong in Achieving and Responsibility as conflict could arise between the two.

The ability to focus on the future is a vital attribute of this strength.   Not only can they see the bigger picture, but they are able to inspire other members of the group to see past the present.  Also, individuals with this strength can identify multiple viewpoints and angles which is helpful when solving problems.

1. As a member of a group, someone with a strategic mindset can identify patterns and themes which allow the group to formulate alternative ways to tackle a problem or a task that may not be working so well.  Their ability to formulate solutions to problems makes them very beneficial.

(2018), the cost of care related to asthma increases nationally every year.  Therefore, innovative products like smart inhalers can decrease costs by preventing the overuse of asthma medications while encouraging proper use of asthma medications.  Also, according to the graph above, visits to the emergency room as well as hospitalizations resulting from asthma decreased significantly when the smart inhaler was used (Merchant et al., 2018).

One particular aspect of the Propeller system specifically that stands out is the physician's dashboard.  Physicians are able to view inhaler use/misuse, identify triggers for patients, and make adjustments to medication dosages based on data from the app.  The use of a dashboard also increases patient physician rapport and involves the patient in their own care.
