He was a hero because he had the grit to fight back, he was tough, and kind, and was motivated by changing the world. His motivation was to not only help himself for racial unfairness but help the entire future. He was a hero not only for being the first and a really good african american baseball player, he changed the world by proving to it that people with other skin color can do the same that others can do.
He was one of the first people to get a letter to schools for 4 sports! He also was treated unfairly when he was in the military and more.
“After Pasadena, he enrolled at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), where he became the first athlete in school history to letter in four sports (track and field, football, basketball and baseball).”
This shows that he was just so motivated by proving to others he can do things. He showed the world that anything is possible, (like becoming a pro in 4 sports).
“He was on the board of the NAACP, where he continued his fight for Civil Rights and equality.”
Even after his success as a baseball player he didn’t stop there, which just proves that he wasn’t doing this for money, he knew people were being harmed, on the inside and outside. So he helped fight for civil rights, and did so much for this world to make it a better place today where more people have that spark to make things fair.
If you told someone do you know Jackie Robinson they would say “yeah the first African American baseball player?” but he did much more than just baseball, he helped the world in ways that made an impact, it started racial rights. He was the spark that started the fire.

Jackie Robinson is a hero because he fought for rights even though he lived in a time of racial discrimination. Jackie Robinson was the first African American to play baseball in the Major Leagues on April 15, 1947. He also broke baseball’s 50 year old restriction for color people.
He stood up for people even though he knew he was going to have consequences. In the following piece of text it shows even though he knew the punishments he still did it, “He was also standing up for the rights of his friends, as evidenced by his January 1938 arrest after speaking out when he felt the police were unlawfully holding an African American friend of his.” (Martin Stezano) His motivation for this was making an impact on people. This piece of text shows that he helped stand up for another person and took the punishment for it. He didn’t look back and regret his decision.

He fought for civil rights even after his baseball career. This following quote shows that Jackie Robinson achieved great things to prove that anyone can do great things. “His accomplishments didn’t end there. His post-career achievements included becoming the first ever African American to serve as VP of a major American corporation (Chock full o’Nuts from 1957-1964), became the first African American commentator for Major League Baseball (1972) and he was on the board of the NAACP, where he continued his fight for Civil Rights and equality.” (Martin Stezano) His motivation for this was fighting for rights. Even after his career ended I feel like he made many more achievements to prove that no matter what skin color you are you can make great achievements.
In conclusion, I think Jackie Robinson is a hero because he went through racial discrimination and never backed down even if he was disrespected. He went on to make great achievements to prove that anyone can make great achievements no matter who they are or what color they are.

Jackie Robinson is a hero because he was the first African American major league baseball player, and broke segregation when he was drafted. His motivation was with his past experiences with racism. Before Jackie Robinson played with the Dodgers he was in the military but due to an incident, he was forced out. In the text it states “The driver, believing the light-skinned woman to be white, ordered Robinson to the back of the bus. Robinson, noting the fact that U.S. Army buses were not segregated, refused. The driver backed down, but called Military Police after the ride. Robinson was taken into custody and eventually charged with insubordination, disturbing the peace and drunkenness (although he neither drank nor smoked). He fought back and, despite false witness statements stacking the deck against him, he was eventually found not guilty.”In this text it talks about how Jackie tried to fight segregation on the bus when he was in the military. This resulted in him being forced out of the military. But he still fought for his right even though there were consequences. In the article it states “He starred for the Dodgers, winning the 1947 Rookie of the Year Award, helping Brooklyn reach the World Series (they lost to the New York Yankees).” (paragraph 9) In this quote it talks about how he was a player for the Dodgers and won an award for Rookie of the year. This was huge because he was the first African American player, also winning an award in his first year. In this quote it talks about how he was a player for the Dodgers and won an award for Rookie of the year. This was huge because he was the first African American player, also winning an award in his first year. All in all, Jackie Robison was and is still very important to our society. He has shown us how he stood up for segregation and being the First African American man to play for major league baseball.

Jackie Robinson is a hero because not only did he break the colour barrier in baseball and show african americans that they can succeed (in terms of sports) but he also fought for civil rights between african americans and white people. An example of him fighting for civil rights is when he was attending Pasadena Junior College, and he felt his friend was being unlawfully held so he spoke up about it. In the article it says, “He was also standing up for the rights of his friends, as evidenced by his January 1938 arrest after speaking out when he felt the police were unlawfully holding an African American friend of his. This shows that Jackie Robinson was a hero because he wasn’t afraid to stand up to police officers when at that time you could’ve been killed and nobody would’ve been defending you for justice. He stood up for the rights of his friend even though that landed in him being arrested. This is where we see how dedicated he is to ending segregation in America/ fighting for the rights of African Americans. “Rather than react to the constant racial abuse from fans and other teams alike, Jackie used unfathomable restraint and poise, turning the other cheek.” This shows Jackie Robinson’s motivation because since he was the only African American in the Major leagues at this time, he received a lot of racism from other people. And he had to use indescribable restraint to not become angry or lash out at these players. He couldn’t let his emotions fuel his reactions so that he could show that African Americans could play baseball and coincide with white people. Jackie Robinson was a hero and an icon to many people, as a way to help end the colour barrier in Major league baseball. He is important because without him the world we live in would be very different today.

Jackie Robinson was a hero because he was out to make positive change in the world not just for himself but for all African Americans. Jackie was selfless, content, and driven. His motavation was not to just make a better, more equal life for himself, but all his fellow African American living in those unfair times. You can see that because as the text says after he retired “He continued to fight Civil Rights and equality.” Jackie was respected by most people because of what he did during his baseball career but not everyone was respected and he wanted to be the change that needed to happen. This is the amount of selflessness that everyone needs to have. Another example of Jackies heroic acts is also shown in the article when it says “ Jackie used unfathomable restraint and poise.” They are referring to when the other player on the opposing team tried to start something with Jackie but Jackie just turned away. That is a quality you see in people with dignity and it is a very heroic quality. Overall, he had a huge impact on creating equality for African Americans. He was a hero...

Jackie Robinson is a hero because he was the first African American to play in Major League Baseball. That's not the only reason though, he had poise to him and when he would be made fun of or “thrown around” he would not get up in their faces he would take it and “turn the other cheek”. In the text it mentions that he would have constant racial abuse from the fans and other teams, he would use his poise and unfathomable restraint to turn the other cheek so they wouldn't find a way to end his “experiment”. Also in the text they mention that he would go on and continue fighting racial problems and become the first African American VP of a major American corporation.

Jackie Robinson was a hero because of how he fought for his country who treated him unfairly. How he was treated terribly and still used kindness to his advantage. “Jackie turned to his friend, and fellow resident at Fort Riley in Kansas, heavyweight boxing champion Joe Louis. Although Louis wasn’t an officer, he wielded some power at Fort Riley, and within a few weeks, Jackie and the other applicants were accepted into the OCS.” As you can see in the quotes text above is how Jackie was always looking out for more than himself. He could’ve asked just for himself to be approved but instead he got his fellow students to be accepted as well with the help of Joe Louis. “Rather than react to the constant racial abuse from fans and other teams alike, Jackie used unfathomable restraint and poise, turning the other cheek so as not to give his detractors any reason to end Rickey’s “experiment.”” Jackie took the awful treatment and used it against them. He played it smart as to not give them a reaction because if he did and he used the same violence and insults they used against him they would’ve had a reason to kick him out. He took that hatred and turned it into motivation and success. Jackie Robinson was more than a great athlete, he was a role model and fighter for equality. Jackie Robinson was an inspiration to us all.

Jakie Robinson was a hero to most of our nation and had a very large impact on people back in the mid 19 hundreds and his legacy is still being remembered today. Jackie Robinson was a very athletic man with ambition. Jackie Robinson had been the first black man to play professional baseball (MLB). In 1947 Jackie had officially become first baseman for the dodgers. Jackie had gone through hardship to get to the point he did, but it was worth it. “Jackie Robinson became the first African American to play in the Major Leagues on April 15, 1947” Jackie just being african american and being in the mlb made history and had his first huge step to becoming one of our most memorable inspirations to America. But he didn't stop there. “ Jackie won the National League Most Valuable Player Award and led the Dodgers to another World Series. Robinson would also help the Dodgers to another World Series.” Jackie was also an amazing athlete. Jackie had an average of . 349 average and 40 stolen bases. Jackie outside of sports was also admired for hard work and being successful. “His accomplishments didn’t end there. His post-career achievements included becoming the first ever African American to serve as VP of a major American corporation (Chock full o’Nuts from 1957-1964), became the first African American commentator for Major League Baseball (1972) and he was on the board of the NAACP, where he continued his fight for Civil Rights and equality.” On october 24th, 1972 jackie robinson had died a legend, even after his death achieving goals people dream of, jackie robinson had been awarded a presidential medal of freedom. Jackie Robinson is still being remembered today.
