Nuclear research is conducted through a combination of experiments and theories. Experimental research involves large scale facilities that contain reactors that can create enough heat and pressure to recreate the power of the sun. Theoretical research includes creating simulations and building models.

Due to past incidents with nuclear fission reactors, people fear the approach of nuclear fusion. The Chernobyl disaster has left an entire city abandoned and radioactive due to human error while Fukushima is still radioactive due to a tsunami. Although fusion and fission are different, people believe that the advancements of nuclear fusion could lead to more incidents like these, or even weapon advancements.

What I Love Most

What I love most about nuclear energy is the possibility of advancements that it has. While nuclear fission has definitely left stains in the history books, nuclear fusion can be a safer, more reliable way to get clean energy to millions across the globe. I love how one day your car could have a nuclear reactor that never needs to be refueled. Could you imagine a day where reactors are creating so much clean energy that pollution levels and energy bills decrease?
