As far as I am concerned, comic books are not necessarily inappropriate books to read for children but it is for sure preferable to read real books without too many pictures due to the reason that those books are far more beneficial for the imaginative part of reading. The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, for example, is an amazingly interesting book in which many places are vividly described...

Linda
It is indisputable that reading can broaden many children's minds. Furthermore, it encourages their creativity and constitutes great imagination and creativity. Their growing personal identity is often represented by the individual titles they select due to the fact that the protagonists and antagonists appearing in the book can have a massive impact on children's understanding of the world and personal view on different topics such as ethical values. Especially in the early years external influences can easily influence people's mind. For example, "Snow white and the seven dwarfs" includes a malicious witch and makes children being afraid of those kind of magical creatures.

Nowadays, reading is still hugely important especially for children, because it can brighten up their faculty of imagination and it can be an incentive for learning new words. The choice of books for a child can affect their morale. For instance, all the myths can influence the child’s mind a lifelong. Cinderella is one of these, which tells us that nothing can tear true love apart. The books which a child is reading while their childhood are forming their personality and perhaps also their career choice.

Many children take a vested interest in reading books since it allows them to enter a world where imagination knows no boundaries. Books can not only convey knowledge but they may also help children to develop particular interests and eventually shape their personality. More often than not, stories written for children, for example fairy tales, transmit and promote basic values such as respect.

For many children nowadays, reading is not only an activity for fun but it is also beneficial for the development of their imagination. It allows them to enter a world full of magic and fantasy and get away from their ordinary life. In reading books, children can widely broaden their minds due to a variety of themes represented in books such as the sense of basic human values as well as distinguish between "good" and "bad". For instance, this educational tool is fully represented in the fairy tale books of "Die Gebrueder Grimm", where the "good ones" always win and the cheating characters have to face the music. Last but certainly not least, the genre of books chosen and read by children has a great impact on their future character as they often take the heroes or heroines as their own role models and try to follow suit with(?) their behaviour.

Reading is crucial in children's development as it broadens their mind and serves as a source of inspiration. Fairy tales, for example are not only entertaining but they can educate children about ethical behaviour and therefore help shape them into the personalities they become.

As far as children are concerned, reading books can give them a surge of joy in a way that it allows them to be immersed in their imagination and exploring the world created by themselves. What also makes children take a vested interest in reading is the fact that books broaden their mind and contribute to their development. Since ethic is such an abstract topic and at the same time a crux to the construction of children's personality, fable can be an effective way for children to comprehend it unconsciously. In addition, books can be used as a tool to get a clue about children’s characteristics by seeing which kind of books they choose.

Without a shadow of a doubt, time spent dining in one's family circle is deemed to be of crucial importance to each individual as well as the family as a whole, enhancing the mutual understanding by sharing feelings, stories and jokes with each other.

It is a widespread belief that sharing pleasure enhances the positive feelings that are brought about as an outcome. To illustrate, it is undeniable that conversation around the dinner table gives a chance to each person to see their blissful feelings spread around through heart to heart talks and friendly conversations. It is additionally an excellent chance to share knowledge, and if we are lucky, to have a more profound discussion about a passion we have in common with someone. From my personal experience, watching a video I enjoy is far more enjoyable when I watch it with someone endeared to me. I have no hesitationin saying that this feeling is shared by many, including you who is reading.

Needless to say, happiness is when you share it with others rather than celebrating it on your own. Isn't it the best opportunity to do so while savouring dinner when everyone is centred around the table to inform others about the experiences of the day? Furthermore, it allows us to gain knowledge from others and to discuss important topics happening around the world. It is undeniable that social exchanges like one over a dinner together can lead to a greater understanding which helps to broaden our horizons.

Ever since human beings began evolving, food has been ubiquitous and savouring meals together instead of alone a ritual for some. It is a widespread belief that bliss is increased whenever we share it with others, for instance an infectious smile or a simple home cooked meal. Hardly have we started to relish some mouthwatering and succulent dishes, such as a juicy steak, then we are enabled to give tongue to our inner thoughts. This exchange of both rapture and ideas might not only lead to a better insight into each others lives, but also to a greater understanding among hosts and guests.

it is a widespread belief top animals are most often preferred to other less attractive species. In the opinion of several experts, this is in fact a grave loss and detrimental for many animal species that are endangered and can cause a serious unbalance in the natural habitat. It has dawned on some people that flagship breeds such as the tiger and polar bear are favoured over for instance the white shark and bison, whereas their conservation could be more fruitful if money more money is spent on these keystone species.

It is a widespread belief amongst animal experts that it is impossible to decide whether a species should be conserved or not by merely judging their natural importance for the ecosystem. A different view is that it may not be worthwhile to spend a vast amount of money in order to conserve a species for the sake of its popularity because their conservation may not be possible due to the fact that their = extinction seems to be too advanced.

Miguel
It has dawned on some scientists that it is not worth spending incalculable time and money trying to save noted species that are bound to die out. While some experts reject the idea on the grounds that we should not be able to decide which species should be conserved, others claim there is no sense in swimming against the tide and, thus, a concerted effort should be diverted to those animals whose possibilities of survival are stronger. By and large, it might be time for tigers or pandas to cede their throne to others endangered and more unnoticed species like lynxes and bees.

Nathalie
Genetic engineering– a blessing or a curse?

It is irrefutable that scientists have made gigantic strides in genetic engineering over the past decades. Cloning and DNA profiling is no longer a far-fetched wishful thinking but sheer reality. This essay aims to discuss the potential benefits and pitfalls of genetic engineering with regard to the fields of medicine, agriculture and cloning.

First and foremost, the most significant advantage of genetic engineering can be found in the field of
medicine. There is a strong likelihood that new treatments for hitherto lethal diseases may be discovered, for example a cure for cancer. It might as well be the case that doctors will soon be able to cure babies suffering from hereditary diseases before they are born. On the other hand, due to the overuse of medicine to cure every kind of potential illness, more and more people will develop an immunity to, for instance, antibiotics.

As far as agriculture is concerned, genetic engineering has brought great benefits. Farmers are able to grow modified crops which remain unaffected by drought and disease. Furthermore, it allows mass production of crops as well as animals which means that sufficient food can be provided for the entire world population. However, we may run the risk of creating an imbalance of species which will not only destroy the food chain but also interfere with the natural course and laws of nature.

Last but certainly not least, cloning is another crucial break- through in genetic engineering. The
temptation to create the perfect human being is irresistible and may lead to a society without neither criminals nor anti-social people. On the other side of the coin, the process of cloning could not run as smoothly as expected and cause threatening mutations. On should also take into account religious
aspects. Creating humans runs counter to most religious beliefs.

On balance, genetic engineering offers vast beneficial possibilities. Regrettably, they all entail a tremendous risk and the long-term effects are unknown. The use and research into genetic
engineering need to be taken with a pinch of salt.

Essay
Genetic Engineering – a blessing or a curse?

It is beyond any doubt that, in this day and age, genetic engineering
has made inroads into our lives. Little did we know about what
far-reaching opportunities it might bring about a few decades ago and
scientists are on the brink of a breakthrough in terms of cloning
creatures. However, there seem to be opposing opinions whether these
advances might do humankind more harm than good. This essay aims to
shed light on the role of genetic engineering and its impacts on
human beings.

First and foremost, there is no shadow of doubt that one of its greatest
benefits lies in the field of agriculture. Had it not been for the
possibility of altering genes, we would not be taking delight in
seedless fruits, such as grapes. More importantly, these
modifications have given rise to mass production in farming,
considering the fact that crops as well as animals can now be
engineered and bred to be resistant to diseases. This aspect is
believed to be a powerful weapon in the persistent fight against
hunger. Paradoxically, however, the pesticides consumed are
detrimental to humans' health.

Other tremendous advances can be observed in the field of medicine. Once
posing a severe threat to humankind, diseases, such as tuberculosis,
are now curable and its transmission preventable. Conversely, while
scientists are still fumbling in the dark trying to fight AIDS and
companies benefit from the commercials of alleged remedies, people
affected keep on suffering.

The probably most controversial aspect of genetic engineering is cloning.
Taking the reproduction of a human ear on a rat's back as an example,
cloning is irrefutably conducive to better treatments for injuries
victims. Having said that, we must consider that we are interfering
with nature, and, leaving alone moral or religious concerns, are not
aware of any long-term and potentially irreversible consequences.

On balance, it is blatantly obvious that genetic engineering offers a
considerable amount of benefits. However, with great power comes
great responsibility. It seems to me that, as we are moving towards
unknown territory, we should take it with a pinch of salt.

First of all, these two pictures show two different aspects of music.
In the first picture, a young woman is presumably listening to music passively while she is reading a cook. It is questionable if it is a good idea to listen to music while learning. I am of the opinion that it is not beneficial for the results of your study, especially when you listen to music with lyrics. Some raise the concern that it has some negative impacts on the efficiency of learning as it might distract children from trying to concentrate on tasks that might require 'deep work'.
In the second picture it looks like some youngsters are playing a classical concert or are preparing for one. They are actively producing music. It is hard to say but they could be playing a piece of Mozart or Bach. I get the impression that it is an orchestra due to the fact that they are playing classical instruments such as violins or cellos. Some say that children who play an instrument are more likely to get good marks in school and have better multi-tasking abilities. As a matter of fact, playing a musical instrument well does require a good memory as well as some mathematical skills, which might come in handy for some other subject at school.

First of all, both pictures are about situations in which people use music. The first
picture shows a young woman who is listening to music while she is studying.
The second picture, however, shows a group of scholars, playing in an orchestra.
It is highly likely that they are preparing for a concert. Both pictures show that music is an important part of our lives, and it may bring people together as a group or makes other activities such as studying more enjoyable. In both pictures, people seem to be very focused on what they are doing. Thus, I suppose that music can be very useful for one’s studying process. The children in picture two seem to be required to practice a lot in order to improve their musical skills and produce a good piece together.

Music has not only advantages for a single individual but also for groups, as it is shown in the second picture, where you can see a group of youngsters play music together. This kind of activity is likely to make them more sensitive in regard of respecting others as well as working productively in a team and it is undeniable that music can strengthen the feeling of belonging to a group. From my point of
view, music should definitely be a compulsory subject in school as from my own
experience music is an incredibly interesting and complex topic which can teach
you a lot for life.

Both of the pictures depict different ways people use music. In the first one, I am under the impression the woman is listening music while studying. It looks like she needs it as a way to relax and to concentrate at the same time. The second one shows a group of youngsters playing instruments perhaps in a school music club. Learning play an instrument is a good way of education as well as you have to cooperate with others, be very rigorous, disciplined and attentive in your work. Moreover, I am convinced that it is also a good way to express your emotions and feelings. Some love playing an instrument whereas some prefer listening to songs. In my experiences, I played piano for 7 years but I was not really interested in it. In my opinion, people are born with the musical skill or not and unfortunately I was not. However I love listening to music. I do so to escape from my daily grind and to take my mind off things.

Both pictures depict a different situations in which music is used. In the
first one we can see a girl with headphones and she seems to be studying,

concentrate. This picture outlines the supporting aspect of music. It can help
people to motivate themselves, not only for studying but perhaps also for sporting
activities. The second picture shows children playing instruments. It appears to me that they belong to some kind of school orchestra. Furthermore, they all look very focused which brings me to the idea that they may be practicing for an upcoming concert. I can tell from my personal experiences that it is very rewarding to play music in a group and especially classical music because it is usually rather complex and requires each member of the group to listen to the others. There is no doubt that such activities are the most beneficial for children to enhance the ability to work in a team.

First of all, both pictures are about the value of music in education. Picture number one depicts a young woman wearing headphones and presumably
listening to music while studying. In picture number two we can see some children ostensibly as part of a string orchestra. There is enough evidence to suggest that both pictures stress the positive influence of music on studying: The young woman seems to draw motivation or inspiration from it for her studies. The young children are undoubtedly learning how to play an instrument and also how to enact in a group such as a school art performance. It is a widespread belief that children who are able to do so are more likely to succeed in activities that require collaboration as well as precision. Having had violin as well as piano lessons, I couldn’t agree more with this statement. Not only did I improve my musical ability but also learn how to work well in a team.

First of all, both pictures are about people using music for different purposes. There are a number of important differences between these two pictures. In the first one, it looks as if the woman is listening to music through her headphones while she is studying presumably for school or university. From my viewpoint, whether listening to music while studying can be beneficial depends on the person and their ability to concentrate as some tend to view music as a great aid to help them eliminate other background noises but focus on a task more easily. The second picture shows the children are playing music by themselves. It looks like the children are playing in an orchestra. It is widely believed that it is truly important to allow children to develop an early relationship to music, because music helps them to expresses who we are and is likely to have a positive influence on their life and career in the future. In this day and age, children are exposed to the different styles of music and express themselves with their favourite music genre.

To begin with, both of these pictures display the role of music
played in different aspects of life. There is enough evidence to suggest that the first picture shows a young woman listening to music while studying for her exams. It is highly likely that she has been stressed out judged by the look on her
face. However, there are opposing opinions whether listening to music passively
while learning is conducive to one’s concentration, as most people can get distracted by the lyrics. Speaking from my personal experience, music relieves my stress as long as I am listening to classical, soothing or instrumental music.
The second one shows a group of youngsters playing together in what seems to me like an orchestra, which contributes to the development of team spirit. Another point worth mentioning is that children playing an instrument are highly likely to get better marks at school, due to the ability to stimulate and develop life-important skills such as multitasking and memorising. This is due to the claim that there are links between music and cognitive performance. I am under the impression that music in general is not only a way to express emotion but also highly useful for the empowerment of cognitive skills.

First of all, these two pictures illustrate different aspects of music and its influence on their study. In the first picture, the woman seems to be using music as relaxation while studying. It is a very controversial subject if music has a beneficial impact on someone who is doing academic work. Personally, I think that music might help her to relax and inspire her to keep on working. On the other hand, it might also be a distraction. In the second picture, you can see a group of children practising their skill to play an instrument. Furthermore, this picture shows us that music is also a social event. There is no doubt that the combination of concentration, passion and a social activity is something children, can learn to achieve. Playing an instrument can lead to a better connection between both brain halves and potentially improve the ability of multitasking and focusing. To come to conclusion, music can be regarded as an essential aspect of study. Although music might not affect everyone in the same way, it is highly valuable and can have a tremendous effect on school children particularly in a group setting like in picture two.

On the other hand, one can say that playing in a school orchestra supports your ability to function well in a team. The two photographs both reveal the value of music in education in different situations that students often find themselves in. In the first picture we see a girl with headphones on while being surrounded by books. It is likely that she is studying perhaps in a library. This represents the supporting aspect of music when it comes to learning. Music may be conductive to one's concentration. It is said that especially classical music serves as an aid to help people focus on their learning tasks. However, there are also concerns about distracting lyrics in songs which might lead to a possible loss of attention.
The second photo illustrates pupils playing instruments in what looks like an orchestra. Undoubtedly, they need perseverance and lots of concentration to learn their instruments and to play them cooperatively in an orchestra. These extra-curricular activities are highly likely to be tremendously supportive for studying purposes. Students playing instuments are more likely to achieve higher marks in school subjects due to capability of long-term memory and the constant stimulation of both cerebral hemispheres. In conclusion, playing an instument may help students to learn and focus on their goals, whereas listening to music while studying is still a controversial issue whereupon each one has to define his/her preferences.

They all seem deeply focused on their work while looking at their music notes and at the same time playing the instruments.
The two pictures show how education and music might have an impact on each other. The effect which is to be achieved of course relies heavily on the genre of music and personal preferences and many people might find it difficult to read/write while listening to songs which contain lyrics. It is possible that the woman in the first picture is listening to calming music since it seems to ease her mind and support her mental power while studying. First of all, both of these refer to the relationship between music and education. it can be said that music is beneficial for different purposes and learning activities.
In the first photo, I get the impression that the girl is listening to music as a means to stay concentrated and focused. Music in general might be also used a a tool for self-motivation as it does help relax the brain. However, there is an opinion that listening to music while studying is questionable even if it is only used passively as in this situation. Experts tend to claim that it may have a significantly bad impact on the efficiency because it can be distracting. In summary, we can say that music can influence our studying but on the other hand, it can be seen as a distraction. The second picture display a group of music students playing in an orchestra. One can see most of them play the violin or the cello while reading music notes intensely. I am under the impression that they are trying to cooperate together and work as a harmonious team to produce a good piece. This points to the fact that music can be a great benefit to help school students build their social skills such as team spirit and artistic expression.

Both pictures reveal the connection between music and study. The first picture shows us the beneficial aspects of listening to music while studying. Several studies have shown that background music promotes cognitive performance, whereas other studies say that listening to music while one is engaged in complex tasks can potential impair their performance as it distracts them from their tasks. It appears to be that both claims are sensible. Results indicate that listening to a preferred type of music might be distracting for one, while listening to sedative music turns out to be rather effective for some. There are a number of significant differences between these two images. While the first one is just one individual consuming music, in the second picture you can see a whole batch of students leaning to play music together in a band. It is argued that not only has music the ability to improve our performances, but through playing music, pupils may learn the value of sustained effort to achieve excellence and the concrete rewards of hard work. As well on the individual level as on group level.
I am certain that music can be used for a lot more than just entertainment. As a musician myself, I've experienced many advantages of listening and playing music. On the other hand, I am under the impression that we cannot generalize this opinion. Every human being is different and one should decide for himself whether he/she finds music useful or beneficial.
All in all, it is undeniable that playing an instrument contributes on learning several personal qualities.

At first the two photographs seem to treat a very similar topic: music and education. But if one digs a little deeper it becomes obvious that they draw in different aspects. Picture one obviously concerns the consumption of music and it's impact on learning. One can see a female student being surrounded by books perhaps in her study or library. It looks as if she is preparing for an exam or taking notes while listening to music. Several studies have shown that listening to classical music has a greatly benefitial influence on studying behaviour, opening one's mind and enhancing the ability to focus on a complex topic for some people. There even exist techniques where the brain can link certain facts or topics to a piece of music previously heard while studying.
On the other hand, we can see children playing various classical instruments, forming a very young orchestra, symbolising the creative and active side of the issue. This could be a group of music students who are rehearsing for their performance. They could well be training to become musicians in the future. Learning to express artistry, feelings and emotions is a relevant part of of the training. Rather than suppressing uprising struggles, fears, or anger, music offers a way to let off steam, to deal with yourself and open up to somebody having to form a single word. In addition, children learn about the values of discipline and the will to strive for their goals by learning a difficult piece or mastering an instrument. There is no doubt that children and young adults can greatly profit from combining music and study or even develop a career in the music industry.

Both pictures seem to depict the connection between music and eduction.
Indeed, in the first one, we can see a girl studying with headphones on. She appears to be engrossed in reading and writing assignments by the look of her face. Nowadays, it is true that teenagers tend to reach for their music all the time. If some people think that music can be distracting, it has also been proven that listening to background music, such as instrumental or classical music, can improve learning outcomes. But one should remain carefull because listening to lyrical music can be counter-productive and takes one's mind off their work.
In the second picture, we can observe the use of classical music in an orchestra. Many long term studies have shown that students who were taught music had better results at school. It increases their coordination, eases their memorization, and even helps them with maths and sciences. Playing an instrument is also a pleasant and positive way of learning. It is safe to say that music is a great way to improve the education of the students and is beneficial to everyone in general, too, as it can also help increase the mood and bring people closer together, for example, in a social event such as a concert or recital.

To begin with, both pictures seem to relate to music and its educational purposes. However, differents occasions and aspects can be observed in both. The first picture addresses the impact of music on studying. It is undeniable that nowadays, students tend to listen to music not only during their leisure time but also while studying for exams. Opinions regarding this matter are various; Some people argue that music enhances their ability to concentrate, while others claim that listening to music while studying is distracting and consequently affecting students performance negatively. The second picture showing an orchestra might signify the importance of music and also highlight the benefits of playing a musical instrument. It is a widespread belief among experts that children who learn how to play a musical instrument might be able to improve their memorizing skills and eye-hand coordination as these are the essential skills required in handling the instruments and music notes. Moreover it is also highly likely that musical activities have a beneficial impact on the way children socialize or interact, as playing in an orchestra requires an undeniably great degree of teamwork. Personally, I believe that music can be a great tool to develop soft skills among school students and that it plays a vital role in our lives.

Both pictures show a link between music and education. The first one shows a girl studying while listening to music, and the second one a group of children playing various instruments such as cello and violin together in a group, perhaps a school orchestra. Playing an instrument has been proven to have many educational benefits as it activates various areas of the brain and works very efficiently as a work-out for your brain. In addition to that, it is also commonly believed that other cognitive processes could be developed though musical skills such as numerical skills or language skills.

First and foremost, it is safe to say that both pictures showcase the connection between study and music. The first picture shows a woman wearing headphones, reading and perhaps taking notes. In the second picture, it appears that several children are practising musical instruments, and they are presumably part of a children orchestra. While some people argue that one of the benefits of music is it serves as a means of stimulating the brain, which can lead to a better performance in studies, the children orchestra in the second picture seem intent on producing the music themselves. Furthermore, it is clear that these children are involved in the process of making music TOGETHER, which might help bond them in a way that few other activities can. Undoubtedly, both ways of using music bear a positive impact on one's skills. This is in line with recent studies on the relevance of music stating that music education can enhance fine motor coordination, as well as concentration, social sensitivity, and relaxation. Experts even claim that the neutral brain activity develops significantly faster if children are exposed to music education in their early years.

First of all, both pictures depict the value of music in education. While the first one seems to focus more on the use of music in the background for self-study, the second one points at the significance of playing music in an educational setting. The first picture portrays a girl who is apparently studying with her headphones on. Many students listen to music to minimize the effects of stress and anxiety or outside disturbances such as traffic noise. Some research has indicated that when having to face difficult cognitive processes, such as studying for a test or while reading and writing, music may be used to help some students concentrate. However, some may consider listening to music while studying as a great distraction. In the second picture we can see a group of young students playing together in an orchestra. Learning how to play an instrument potentially helps develop language and reasoning. Students who have early musical training will develop the areas of the brain related to language and musical training can enhance brain function. To conclude, there is no doubt that both of these photos illustrate the importance of music, which not only exercises ones concentration and perhaps productivity but also their intellectual capabilities. While this shows how important musical education is for young people, presumably one of the most beneficial effects of music is that it brings together all different kinds of people and creates a distinctive connection between them.

Superbad

Superbad gives an insight into how high school students are regarded by most people. The plot centers on 3 best friends, which are apparently losers. However, on their senior year they get finally invited to a party by one of the friend's crush. In order to enter the party, they must bring some booze and that's was their journey begins.....
I consider the movie as a must-see for students as they can surely relate to some of the characters. Furthermore, the story is well told with lots of jokes and ironic views on the daily struggles of a student.
Starring Jonah Hill as the main protagonist, who has won several awards for his acting skills, it goes without saying that again he doesn't fail to impress. Although some of the scenes are over the top and exaggerated, it does not have a negative impact on the overall experience of the movie.
On top off all that, I would highly recommend students watch the movie if they want to enjoy a hilarious comedy movie, which perfectly reflects on how students might feel as the story itself is extremely relatable.

The Other Woman
I have never been a film buff, but I was hooked after I saw The Other Woman. It's an American romantic comedy, directed by Nicholas Cassavetes 2014 and starrring Cameron Diaz, Nicki Minaj, Leslie Mann and many other famous actors.
The plot of this film revolves around Mark, a successful businessman who is cheating on his wife with two other girls. The girls become friends and they decide together to pay back Mark, who does not know anything that they are doing behind his back. They take revenge by mixing estrogen to his smoothies, which gives him breasts. Audience will laugh their heads off seeing them putting hair removal cream into his shampoo and laxatives in his drinks.
The film is remarkably entertaining and hilarious as it is mostly filmed in the Bahamas, where Mark goes on a business trip. It is joyful to see how clever three girls can be when they "work" together.
I recommend this film for everybody as I'm sure that it keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout.

Interstellar
Christopher Nolan's movie Interstellar is a science fiction movie that deals with interstellar travel using the newest theories of science.
In the future, humanity is deemed to go extinct due to a severe crop blight. The movie tells the story of a former astronaut and now farmer Joseph "Coop" Cooper and his family. In order to save humankind, NASA is trying to find a habitable planet to repopulate on. By travelling through a wormholem, it seems now to be possible to reach galaxies that are further away than humanity has ever travelled before. Having no choice, a selected group of trustworthy astronauts and scientists including Coop is trying to do the impossible and goes on this what more than likely could be a one-way journey.
Starring Oscar-winning actor Matthew McConaughey, the movie not only depicts theories in space travel that have never been shown visually, making it a treat to the eyes of the viewer but it is also able to tell the heartbreaking story of a man who has to leave behind everything that he loves.
Cinematographically and musically the movie is definitely a must-see for children this summer.

Beauty and the Beast
Based on the traditional French fairy tale of the same name by Jeanne-Marie and produced by Walt Disney Feature Animation, Beauty and the Beast may be one of the most successful Disney's creations that have ever been made in the modern day.
The story portrays the story and sheds light on the relationship between the Beast, a prince cursed by an enchantress for his arrogance and selfishness, and Belle, a young gorgeous and avid reader woman who is imprisoned by the Beast. In order to break the curse, the Beast must love Belle and win her love in return.
Becoming the first ever animated film to be nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture, not only was Beauty and the Beast awarded the Oscars for Best Original Score and Best Original Song, but it also became the first animated movie to be adapted into a Broadway Musical. Above all its positive critics and awards, it is the message the movie transmits that makes it so laudable, which is that truly beauty lies on the inside. Teaching its viewers not to judge a book by its cover and remarking the importance of reading, Beauty and the Beast embodies a superb behaviour and attitude model.
By and large, although the fact that it is an animated movie might be a reason to be unfairly underestimated by some audience, Beauty and the Beast has proved throughout the years to be one of the most revetting, influential and admired movies ever and I can't recommend this one enough to the young audience out there.

Life of Pi
Life of Pi is one of the best films that made the most of visual effects. Based on the novel by Yann Martel, it involves a story of 227 days in the Pacific.
The story begins in a zoo in India, where the main character “Pi” is raised. As his friends made fun of his given name “Piscine” which was nicknamed as “pee”, he determined to adopt his name “Pi” which expresses his limitlessness like the number pi which never ends. Since the zoo goes broke, the family decided to immigrate to Canada by a ship with all the animals. Hit by a high wave, the ship sank to the bottom of the sea, where he lost his family. Left with the Bengal tiger named “Richard Parker” in a small boat, he starts a sea journey, more like a survival of 227 days.
Much as the film was believed to be unable to be dramatised, it fantastically succeeded in using the graphic which makes the audience immersed in the heavenly scene. The film was complimented to employ 3D medium better than any other films, which not only makes every scene awe-inspiring and sublime, but it also gives greater depth to the story.
While film-goers will be undoubtedly enchanted by the film, those who cannot catch the twist may feel futile. Captivated by the paradisaical view for the most of the film, film goers run into an unexpected turn at the tail end. Considering the fact that the twist involves a deep implication, it literally twists the whole story, which bewilders us and urges us to recollect the whole story again. As it seems to play a core role in constructing a plot, film viewers will never get the full meaning of the film without comprehending the twist wholly.

Alice’s adventure in wonderland

Based on Lewis Carroll’s novel Alice’s Adventure in wonderland, Tim Burton created his own version of the story in his film Alice in Wonderland.
Nineteen-year-old Alice returns to the magical world of her
childhood adventure, where she reunites with her friends and finds out about
her true destiny: to end the Red Queen's reign of terror. Throughout her
journey through Wonderland, Alice is guarded by the mad hatter who protects and
helps Alice whenever there is need to do so. At the end of her exciting
journey, Alice is not only stronger than before but she is also able to take
difficult decisions back in the real world.
Directed by Tim Burton, the setting is extremely imaginative and the characters are as extraordinary as in previous Tim Burton films. The film has a quality cast with Johnny Depp playing the Mad Hatter and Helena Bonham Carter in the unthankful role of the red queen. Both, Johnny Depp as well as Helena Bonham Carter have acted in several other Tim Burton productions before and are therefore a well-coordinated team.
While film-goers and fans of Tim Burton will undoubtedly love the film, those who have read the novel may be rather let down by the changes that have been made to adapt the novel. Regrettably, as entertaining as this new version might be, it is not as fascinating and poetic as the novel.

Film review: My sister’s keeper
My sister’s keeper is the latest blockbuster to hit our cinemas. The story takes place in Rhode Island, USA, and is based on the novel by Jodi Picoult.
It is, at heart, a tragic story with despair, hope and love as major themes. The protagonist Anna Fitzgerald, portrayed by Abigail Breslin, was genetically designed to save her sister’s life. Kate suffers from acute promyelocytic leukemia
and only the donation of Anna’s kidneys could save her life. Not only might
Anna’s loss of a kidney have serious impacts on her life but it is also by
means not certain that Kate will survive the operation. Anna petitions for
medical emancipation with the help of Campbell Alexander, an immensely
successful lawyer, so that she will be able to make her own decisions regarding
her medical treatment and the donation of her kidney. Anna’s and Kate’s parents
go to court where during the trial it came to light that Kate had pleaded Anna
to sue for emancipation because she believed that she will die anyway during
the operation. The judge rules in Anna’s favor. However, on the way back home
Anna gets involved in a car accident and is diagnosed brain-dead. Kate gets the
kidney, survives the surgery and remains in remission for the next few years.Directed by Nick Cassavetes, the film captures all the strong emotions described in the book. Albeit the detailed dramatization, the film dwarfed in comparison with the book and, therefore, didn’t live up to my
expectations.

Madagascar 3 versus Avatar
This review aims to compare two of the most successful films of this century. On the one hand there is the famous trick film Madagascar 3 of which production cost half of that of Avatar. On the other hand, Avatar brought in the highest amount of money from the ticket box of all times.
First of all, Madagascar 3 is the sequel of Madagascar 1 and 2. This film recounts the events of the return of the four animal friends from Africa to their original home, New York's fictional Central Park Zoo. An odd group of a giraffe, a hippo, a lion and a zebra tries to find their way back home via Monte Carlo. The film is incomparable funny, stupid and exciting at the same time for the whole family but primarily for the youngest children of the age of five to eleven. It keeps them in suspense during the whole one and a half hour. The characters are created so visually beautifully and detailed. As well are that, the surroundings where the film scenes take place are wonderfully thought up. Even I was impressed by the natural-looking movements the animals seemed to make during the film. The sound effects are perfectly timed and it was a real pleasure to watch the film.
On the other hand, Avatar is not suitable for children under 12 years. The fictional film takes place on a distant world of Pandora. The Protagonist Jake Sully decides to take part in a mission in Pandora. There he meets local species who can heal his injured leg and he falls in love with the beautiful alien Neytiri. The main themes in this film, beside the almost uncountable fights, are love and because it might be terrifying for them to see such fictional creatures having fights against each other

Having been to the movies twice in the past two weeks, I would like to make an attempt to compare the two movies as both are animated comedies for a younger audience and have many aspects in common. However, there are striking differences as well which are going to be revealed in this review.
On one hand, there is “Frozen”, the greatly entertaining comedy about princess Anna who has to go on a long journey up to the mountains in order to find her sister Elsa who transformed the whole region into an icy nightmare thanks to a prophecy. On her trip, Anna is accompanied by Kristian, a mountain man, reindeer Sven and Olaf, a speaking snowman. But for Olaf’s hilarious comments and actions, the movie would not be half as great as it is. The storyline is easy to follow, but I can assure you that you won’t get bored and towards the ending you maybe even have to choke back your tears due to the fact that everything turns out so perfectly and romantically.
On the other hand, there is “Despicable Me”, the second sensational animated comedy of my viewing in the past weeks. Paradoxically, the movie could be described with “When the world needed a hero, they called a villain”. As true as this statement may be, Gru, the antagonist, turns into the antagonist during the story which gives the whole a fantastic and unexpected turn. Furthermore, the Minions, Gru’s tiny yellow crew, are immensely adorable for the reason that they are naïve and clever at the same time and come up with a great deal of jokes. In addition, they bend him away from carrying out evil
projects which leads to a happy end.
Witty, sparkling, suspenseful and mischievous - these are the words which can be used to describe both “Frozen” and “Despicable Me”. Regrettably, the quality of the jokes is way better in “Frozen” than in “Despicable Me”, mainly by the courtesy of Olaf who made me rolling in the aisles. To sum up, both movies are fantastic and I am not exaggerating when saying if you like comedies the two of them are absolute must-sees. I highly recommend you to grab some friends, purchase some popcorn or chips and let yourself being taken in by two awe-inspiring comedies.

She is known to be remarkably goal-oriented, conscientious, self-disciplined and motivated, which are essential qualities in the acting industry.

Not only is she an excellent actress, but she also is a gold-hearted woman. Carice uses her fame for many charity programmes in my country. Indeed, she is the ambassador of WNF, which is a Dutch charity organisation that investigates environmental issues. What seems to impress her fans most is perhaps her humble attitude towards life, which does not seem to be ruined by those glitzy parties and glamour dresses. Unlike some other celebrities who stay in the spotlight then soon topple from their throne, Carice opts to live a low-key life.

In my view, Carice is an excellent example for many youngsters my age to follow. She allows others to see more than just the stereotyped Dutch farmers. Never before have I seen such a strong-willed yet down-to-earth actress as her. Through the moving storylines in her films such as Blackbook, she has brought a new meaning to life, touched millions of hearts worldwide, and made people realise the true power and beauty of love and a good heart.

All in all, I firmly believe that her story will continue to inspire me and many generations to come.

Article
This year, I would like to nominate the award to Lily. She is a person who is tactful, friendly, affectionate and a boundless girl in this Chatswood high school.

First of all, Lily is a ceaseless girl. If she wants to achieve something, she works hard to achieve it. To illustrate, when she decided to improve her grades, she started to study everyday and turn it into a daily routine. Furthermore, she influenced her friends in a good way. She is undoubtedly a positive girl and that made her friends positive and optimistic as well. Lastly, we all think she has a friendly personality as many people could talk to her easily and they confide their worries to her.

I met Lily when I just came to Australia. At first, I could not speak English at all, and because of my language problem nobody wanted to be friends with me. However, she was the first one who came to me and talked to me, which I knew she was a warm-hearted person immediately. Since I met her my English has improved and I have made many friends. Additionally, she is extremely witty, supportive and tactful, for instance, when I did not understand what my teacher was saying and I could not enquire because I’m an introverted person, she recognized my situation and she asked the teacher for me.

Consequently, I really believe that Lily is this year’s ‘My guiding star’ winner, because she's helpful, believable, caring and generous. In fact, we all know she is not a fair-weather friend and she won’t turn away from us.

Hi new students!
Welcome to our College! As the number of international students who study here increases, we have decided to approach you with something different other than a brochure of the school. So, here are some things that could help you to find your way around during your orientation week.

One if the most essential things for students is receiving the support they need to push themselves through their study. Our academic team is always on hand to help with any queries. Afraid of approaching them? Well, don’t be! The academic office is located just near the entrance and the staff members are super friendly. Not only that; they are extremely experienced in helping new students, too. Besides that, the support networks for adult and mature students, LGBT students, students with children are all accessible on our campus.

As far as accommodation is concerned, fortunately, there are numerous options for you both on campus and in the neighborhood. If you want to sign up for a single room or a shared room, please contact reception to give your details. You can also rent an apartment through a local real estate agent, but be careful – the rents tend to be a bit higher. For those of you who wish to partake in local family traditions and practice the language, then you definitely should consider a home-stay.

Besides learning, there comes a time to party. Every week we are having facilities with student discounts. On Friday there will be a barbie for all new international students. And at the end of every week we organize something to celebrate the upcoming weekend, so on Thursdays everybody goes to a Spanish club. If you’d like to have more information, we will be pleased to help you. We hope you enjoy your stay at the college.

Dear Sir or Madam,
My name is Sally Lee, head of the international students committee. I am writing with reference to your request to improve our international class and make it more convenient for our students.
To begin with, I would like to compliment on this class. I was extremely surprised that students have improved during a short term. I was also impressed by how helpful the international students were to each other.
Unfortunately, there are major difficulties which should be fixed. Firstly, because it is an international class, it is easy to find the same nationalities which speak their native language easily. I believe this effort lowers their experience of English which results in a deterioration of their English skills. Furthermore, in this class, each student’s level is different, so it is difficult to satisfy all students. Some of the students are beginners, but some others are more advanced because they have studied for a few years.
In light of this problem, I suggest that it would be better to put lower students in general class, so that it will be more helpful to them. We could organize a morning English class or club for them, which will be considerate. Furthermore, it will be useful if we provide them with basic English books and give activities which are related to the books. Lastly, for more advanced students, it will be grateful if we design varieties of activities that fits them.
I hope this suggestion will be of use to make our international class better or be helpful to international students.

Yours faithfully,

Dear Ms Lee,

I appreciate your request about my feedback on the college's international class which I was invited to attend in the past two weeks. I am writing to put forward several suggestions to improve it.

First and foremost, I was amazed at the fun-filled and welcoming atmosphere in the class. All the students were extremely friendly with me even though some of them appeared rather shy at first or had limited vocabulary. I would also like to extend my compliments to the caterer for making such delicious cakes for us to enjoy during our break time.

Nevertheless, I noticed some problems as well. One was the reluctance among some of the students to speak English. Perhaps because many of them came from the same country, they conversed a lot in their mother tongue. Additionally, the activity programs seemed to focus heavily on reading and independent class work instead of promoting opportunities for students to interact with one another.

In light of these problems, I suggest splitting students into smaller groups or pairs to encourage them to use more English during class. Furthermore, more interactive content should be included in the student program to allow for more speaking practice among the students. For example, it would be advisable to organize ice-breakers, game days, treasure hunts, movie sessions, coffee meet-ups or even role plays and debates during and after class. These activities are definately going to motivate the students to use more English.

I hope these recommendations will receive your consideration in order to make our international class more successful for the students.

Yours sincerely,

Nowadays, unfortunately, many issues are in controversies such as Covid 19, the past behaviour of celebrities and discrimination. Vivisection is a constant controversy among these issues and there seem to be differing views on it. This essay will look at both the positive and negative aspects of animal testing.

First of all, it is generally agreed that it vivisection or animal testing is helpful to humans. Chiefly, it is undeniable that vivisection assists in reducing health risks when humans use different products. For instance, many cosmetics is one of the flagship products which use vivisection before they are launched. They do this to prevent the risk to humans, and if they did not, there might be more possibility that the chemical reaction will manifest in human’s physical appearance. Secondly, sometimes sacrificing animals can save people’s lives. To take an example of a rabbit’s liver transplant, if the experiment fails, a rabbit dies but if it’s successful it can help keep patients alive. To sum up, it can be said that vivisection helps with improving human health and lower risks to humans.

On the other hand, there are possible disadvantages of vivisection. The first main reason is that numerous innocent animals lose their lives during research experiments. Grievously, most of the animals such as mice, rabbits, monkeys used in vivisection experiments die or suffer great pain and trauma. There are only a few potential ways they can live. Additionally, animals and humans are not exactly the same in genetic features in the sense that have different body functions, cognitive abilities and brains etc. This actively demonstrates that even if some animal experiments are successful, there is still a likelihood that the results cannot be applied to humans.

To sum up everything that has been stated so far, there are advantages and disadvantages of using vivisection in testing products for human use. Furthermore, This controversial issue should be resolved so both animals and humans are safe.

The reality is that millions of animals are used in laboratory experiments in the help of making many products safe for human use such as medicines, foods, cosmetics and household cleaning products. For that matter many of these animals go through painful suffering or deaths. While most people claim that animal testing or vivisection is necessary, others are opposed to it. This essay intends to examine the positive and negative aspects of animal testing.

In the main, many medical treatments and household products have been developed from experiments on animals. This stems from the belief that animals share many features with humans, so animals are used to test the safety and effectiveness of newly developed drugs before they are consumed by humans. For example, biomedical research can provide safe medicine and treatments for humans and pets alike. Studies involving rats, rabbits, cats, pigs and sheep have contributed to the understanding of heart disease, for example. Additionally, drugs and vaccines that can be a possible solution to the devastating HIV/AIDS virus are present due to the tests have been performed on chickens, cats and monkeys with a similar virus. Therefore, it is safe to say animal testing can help in ensuring the safety of many products used by human beings and without this practice, many procedures or new drugs would be extremely unsafe.

However, many people argue that animals being used in tests suffer from pain, distress and harm, and that their suffering is unnecessary and cruel. It is clear that animals are sentient beings. This means they have feelings or can feel emotions like humans do. For this reason, many animals used for science suffer moderate to severe stress, discomfort or severe pain. Like humans, animals react to pain in similar ways by screaming or trying to avoid the source of the pain but they are not given any pain relief. As a result, many of these animals undergo painful conditions and physical procedures that leave them in intense cold or heat, or have limbs crushed and spinal cords damaged. Another point is that many people feel that animals testing should not be used for non-essential products such as cosmetics, shampoos, soaps, and cleaning products. To illustrate, it has been shown that regulatory tests for Botox, vaccines and some tests for chemical safety of facial creams caused 50% of the animals to die or be killed very close to death. Clearly, many animals suffer great pain both physical pain and mental stress and much of that seems unnecessary and could be avoided if we use alternative ways of making products.

In conclusion, while vivisection may offer some undeniable benefits to increase the safety of products used by both humans and animals, there drawbacks should not be ignored. Future research should find ways to minimize the suffering or death of animals while ensuring products are still safe and effective for human consumption.

Airport report
Hi, we were a group of teenagers who recently returned from a holiday abroad. We were all joyful about our holiday, and most of my friends were satisfied with the trip. However, there were some problematic aspects of the airport that made us feel unpleasant. This report reflects on those points and suggest ways to improve it.
First of all, we were all glad there were many varieties of restaurants, due to the fact that we are all different ethnicities, and we all had different tastes. It was more pleasant than other airports which do not have many types of restaurants. In addition, we arrived earlier than the flight scheduled time, so we had to wait for 2 hours and thought it’s going to be tedious. However, there were so many shops in the airport that we did not have any time to get bored. The airport’s biggest advantage was that the luggage check-in was easy. The check - in did not take more than 20 minutes and it was definitely easy that elderly people could do without any assistance. Lastly, we were able to enjoy ourselves because the flight attendants were all entertaining and polite. They kept asking us whether we required anything. We were pleased with their attitude and service.
However, the flight entertainment was boring, because there were only a handful of magazines to read and nothing else. Additionally, the plane was delayed with no apparent explanation. We were waiting for the flight for more than 2 hours, so we were so stressed that the plane was delayed. The most ridiculous aspect is that my luggage was lost approximately for four days and when it was returned to me, my camera was missing. I requested a compensation but they said it’s all my fault, therefore I did not receive any compensation and I lost a brand new camera. There were some difficulties in the cafe too, as some of the staff did not know how to speak English even though it is an international airport. It was absolutely difficult to purchase some food items from the menu.
To make it better, it would be advisable to install wifi so that people can check emails or respond to any urgent text/call. Additionally, it would be better if you could install television or any monitor in the flight, as it will entertain clients. Next time if the plane is about to be delayed, it would be necessary to advise passengers well in advance. Furthermore, I was so disheartened when I asked for compensation and they declined my request. I hope you can find a better solution so that problem will not occur to future passengers.
In conclusion, it was a pleasure to stay in the airport and to enjoy the quality service of the restaurants. Flight attendants and luggage check-in was so convenient. However, cafe staff who cannot speak english and the airport system were so abominable. I hope you can improve these aspects and get better.

Report on the school trip to the City Outdoor Centre
As requested by the college principle, I'm submitting this report to provide an assessment of the students' trip to the City Outdoor Centre. The information comes from interviews with 30 of the students who were attending the centre.

One positive aspect is that the centre boasted a large range of activities to choose from for example rock climbing, zorbing, diving and making pottery. A highlight of these was a welcoming and professional attitude of the activity coordinator who was definitely likeable. Furthermore, the additional facilities such as tennis rackets, wet suits for diving, harness and belay devices for rock climbing were of top notch quality and were free of charge.

In regard to negative aspects, even though the students really enjoyed the trip, they feel there are a few drawbacks and the centre didn’t manage to keep our expectations up. The first issue was that some promises were not accurate according to what they were told before.
1.	The zorbing activity was only available for one day whereas we requested for more of it
2.	The climbing gym was extremely crowded when we arrived. As a consequence some of us could not join the activity all at once but had to linger around
3.	Even though the advertisement said the pottery workshop was free, we were asked to pay a huge amount when we wanted to take some of the porseleins home.

To improve these problems, in my opinion, as well as extnding the timetable for the zorbing class and the rock climbing gym, the centre should state clearly about the fees in the brochure for all the classes to avoid any misunderstanding.

In conclusion, even though the trip was enjoyable for all of us some aspects mentioned above could be improved so future students can enjoy the centre more on the next occasion.

Without a doubt, advertising had made inroads into all walks of life and some people believe it is created by the emergence of technology and economy. Facilitated by the invention of television, it has indeed become an indespensible aspect our daily-life. The two texts raise some important concerns about the impact of advertising has on young children.

The first text contains a rather mixed view on the role of advertising. Firstly, the author is convinced that advertising is a very effective tool to influence children because children can use their nagging power to have a say in many purchases of their family. Therefore, many advertizers are interested to create adverts that are only aimed for children like toys or computer games. However, the author claims many teenagers also have the tendency of shopping on impulse instead of spending time to make careful choices. Consequently, their purchases may end up being needless or wasteful.

The second text, however, suggests that teenagers are not all vulnerable to advertising. Quite the contrary, they are very familiar with advertizements as they grow up surrounded by them on TV, radio or internet, even at bus stops. Another point raised in the text is that advertising does help the children by providing information to them. In this way, children are able to make informed choices, especially in purchasing regular items like food, stationary or clothes.

Beneficial or not, it is irrefutable that advertising is influencing children greatly. Although, we can also say that advertising is influencing people of all ages. It is true that some advertisements many contain extremely informative and useful information for children. For instance, some adverts that aim to promote healthy lifestyle, fitness, healthy food or learning games can be considered innocuous, relevant and educative. Nevertheless, the fact is that many children are naive or lack judgement; they are innocent and gullible, which makes them a perfect target for fraudulent advertizers. Therefore, I hold the view that advertising to children should be treated as a issue of great concern.
