In the statue, David seems to be thinking or concerned on how to fight Goliath. The sculpture makes an impression that David isn’t about to fight Goliath in a brutish way, but and intelligent smart way with skill and reason.  People understood with this sculpture how a small David defeats Goliath, a huge man feared by all others except David, by hitting him in the head with a stone and slingshot.

Through David’s humanistic proportions and naked body, David showed the people of Florentine that the human body was a gift and is something that shouldn’t be hidden thus emphasizing the many secular aspects of life that reflected humanism during renaissance
