UNE It is created in order to implement academic programs with the pedagogical strategy of distance education, relations with local, regional, national and international needs and the challenges of a democratic, participative and dynamic society with models, social and cultural issues that contextualize in the 21st century.
Since its inception - April 1982 - the University has made known its commitment to communities and populations that have not had access to technical training, humanistic and community partners. Also, for its contribution to the recovery of social fabric, the generation of work spaces and training for citizen participation. (Distance, 2019)
 
Important events:
• By means of a decree 2770 of 2006, the UNAD has become a national, diplomatic, administrative and financial organization, as well as in the independent patrimony, the Ministry of National Education.
• The University receives its quality certificates in the Colombian Technical Standard for Public Management NTCGP 1000 and the Technical Standard for Quality NTC ISO 9001.

It is considered positive the constant analysis and the monitoring that is done to the different actions of protection and environmental care, for each one of the processes and productive activities carried out by the entity.
