ADHD is a mental health issue, that makes it rather challenging for children and adults to take part in day to day activities. ADHD is different for every child, this means that the treatment is different as well. Some children are prescribed medications, while others do not need medications. Usually if medication is used, only a small dosage if required in order to see a big difference in a child's behavior and focus. Doctors such as Pediatricians and Pediatric Physiatrists can usually easily diagnose ADHD is children. There are to types of ADHD, disruptive and inattentive. ADHD is more commonly diagnosed in boys because they tend to display more disruptive and noticeable symptoms of ADHD. Certain factors such as depression, anxiety and learning disorders make it rather difficult for ADHD to be diagnosed in a child as these all play a role in inattentive behavior.

The abbreviation ADHD stands for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. It has been found that every 1 in 20 children have ADHD, however ADHD is commonly not diagnosed. ADHD can cause the sensation of having more energy, and becoming very energetic out of the blue. ADHD can make it difficult for people of all ages to pay attention, sit still, and interrupt others. ADHD can be hard to identify due to the fact that all people can feel it's hard to focus, or sit still. However people with ADHD have these issues everyday, not once in a blue moon. No child or Adult has the same type of ADHD, ADHD varies and is different in every peron. More symptoms of ADHD include struggling with spelling, reading and tend to be rather clumsy. Common emotions that tag along with ADHD are feeling more worried, sad, and angry than others. Organization and charts can help children with ADHD to stay focus on the task at hand, and complete what needs to be done. The cause of ADHD is still unknown, due to is complexity and variations.

This personal story was about a girl who struggled with ADHD for most of her life without knowing so. Throughout her childhood she struggled with making friends, and making poor decisions. As she got older she felt like she was different from others as she still continued to struggle making friends. It took her awhile to finish assignments, and to complete work. She struggles keeping things organized, and constantly forgot to do things or bring things. It wasn't until her son was diagnosed with ADHD, she researched what ADHD was and was able reach out for help regarding her own ADHD.

If you believe your child has ADHD, you should try to take thing in to account such as a Behavior Analysis, time frame regarding how long this behavior has been going on, and a scheduled appointment to the pediatrician so that they can asses your child. As a parent something you should take into note is the attention span of your child, and if they have a rather difficult time focusing and listening to others. Another thing to look at is the amount of energy they have, and whether or not it seem excessive for a child there age. If they tend to run, walk or climb constantly should also be observed. In children some are more inattentive than hyperactive, whereas in other children it can be the opposite as ADHD is different for every child. If any of these symptoms have been occurring for over 6 months, there is a good chance that it may be ADHD.If your child is displaying any of these symptoms, schedule an appointment to there pediatrician where they can be looked at for further intake. (Fact: Mothers who smoked while pregnant, there child is twice more likely to have ADHD.)

ADHD can cause different emotions, actions and behaviors. For some children, they find it difficult to pay attention as they tend to daydream, and loss focus. Some can feel angry, which can lead them to lash out and become more aggressive. This feeling of anger can also cause some children to feel bad about themselves, as they tend to get into trouble more often than others. Those who don't feel anger, may have a different type of ADHD causing them to daydream and lose focus. These daydreams are often fun and safe places where they are able to express themselves by doing certain actions such as drawing, and painting. However, this daydreaming causes children to not to be able to complete there work in the timely manner that's expected. Some children feel as though certain feelings and actions are out of there control. They find that they stay stuff at the heat of the moment they don't really mean, or they do compulsive actions with a reasoning. ADHD impacts every child and adult differently, therefore the treatments and diagnostics vary depending on the child's needs.

In children, ADHD is the most commonly diagnosed psychiatric disorder among kids and teens. Dopamine is a hormone that makes people feel happy, and good inside. Having less Dopamine can cause children to become bored very easily, and cause the child to be more active. In a brain of a person who has ADHD, their brain never properly switches modes. There brain is in constant motion, being both in default mode and take-positive mode at the same time. Because of this, the brain is overworked making it harder to a the person to focus. Some prescriptions that are prescribed for ADHD children is Ritalin, as it increases dopamine and helps people to focus more. Some advantage that come with ADHD are creativity and thinking outside of the box. Channeling this energy properly into career paths for people with ADHD can strongly benefit them if they find the right job in which they can channel their energy into.

The treatment for ADHD for young children between ages 4-5 is being questioned. There is a growing concern about the effects ADHD medications have on children, and whether or not medications are the best options. It was found that preschoolers ages 4-5 who suffer from ADHD were automatically being prescribed medications which may not have been the best solution. Parents need to be made aware that there are other options such as behavioral therapy that work just as well as medications. Medications can have serious side effects on child such as problems with sleeping, no appetite, and behavioral problems. Parents should be more lenient to the dies of therapy and counseling, instead of the use of medications which can have serious side effects.

As a child she wasn't able to make friends, as she was extremely overwhelmed. Losing things constantly , and found it very difficult to focus on tasks that didn't interest her. ADHD has 3 primary characteristics, inattention, impulsivity and hyperactivity. When she was diagnosed with ADHD, she was prescribed medication that helped her a lot. These medications helped her to focus more, and her grades were able to soar up. Her medications helped her make friends, have a boyfriend, attend college. Unfortunately, everything went downhill as she dropped out of college and was unable to keep a job. So much effort was put into everything she did, however she still felt as though the more effort she put in, the farther behind she was. People with ADHD believe that it's themselves that need to change, they think they aren't able to be like everyone else due to their own faults. ADHD is a neurodevelopmental disorder, and this disorder has received the most attention and understanding my medical experts and doctors. ADHD is much more serious than what most people think, ADHD can cause many problems whether in relationships or in the real world. An example of ADHD for a regular person to comprehend whats its like is like your brain is switching through 30 different channels and some one else has the remote, you have no control whatsoever. ADHD impacts for then just a persons focus, it affects other vital functions such as planning, sustaining effort, makes it difficult to regulate emotions and directly impacts sleep schedule. ADHD has the potential to affect every aspect of a person's life, whether it be for the better or worse. Therapy, meditation, coaching, counseling and exercise can all help people with ADHD. People with ADHD are 300% more likely to start their own business as they are very creative, outgoing and driven individuals. Looking past the assumptions of people and children with ADHD, you can learn really what ADHD is. You'll learn people with ADHD aren't lazy, procrinators who can't sit still, bit people who have no control over these actions.

I chose the topic ADHD because it' something that a lot of people in my family suffer with, along with myself. I wanted to lean more about the causes of ADHD, and the impact in which it has on not only adults but also children. I learned that ADHD impacts everybody differently, meaning that treatments and emotions are different for every person. ADHD can be treated in so many more ways than I thought, it can be treated with medications, therapy, counseling, behavioral psychology, meditation, etc. Although I was hoping to learn more about the cause of ADHD doctors are still not 100% what causes this neurological disorder. However it's known that ADHD can be cause by pre maternal drinking and drug usage, it can be passed down by genetics, or it can be caused by exposure to lead and pesticides. I found it very interesting how people with ADHD are 300% more likely to start a business, they have a greater chance of an offspring of children, and how ADHD is less detected in girls than boys. Overall I found it fascinating to learn about ADHD and how it impacts people of all different ages in so many different ways.
