The African Sleeping sickness, or human African Trypanosomiasis, is a horrid disease that was originally caught in the early 1900s. This infection was first found in humans by Forde Dutton in The Gambia in 1901. He found parasites in the blood of a European suffering from recurrent fevers. Forde figured it out a few months later as Trypanosoma Brucei.

In order to get the African Sleeping Sickness, you need to be in the sub- Sarahan parts of Africa. You would most likely be bitten in the day time, but it is not unheard of to be bitten at night. The perfect time to be bitten would be if you were on a hike. This is because the Tsetse fly likes to be around bushes and greenery, like tall grass and even flowers.
If a mother is pregnant, she can pass this disease on to her baby.

Blood transfusion also can occur.
