While it’s not following directions and I gave myself more work to do in the long run, I’m extremely happy with my work. I don’t get to do my own art very often, and even less often am I satisfied with the work I did, so this was a fun change! I wish my little chicken had more more texture, I used marker and colored pencil but alas he doesn’t look as fuzzy as I envisioned. I really enjoyed the project. I realized how much elements and principals meld and overlap and interact with. Sometimes its hard to choose which is most prominent because there is often more than one element or principal displayed! it was a very eye opening experience. In my first circle, I used leaves of different shapes to present the variety.
#2 SHAPE and SPACE
I drew 4 small circles in the second circle to outline a vague square in the middle to show the space brought out by the different shapes.
#3 TEXTURE and VARIETY
Because the principal of the first circle is VARIETY, I found materials of different textures, including non-woven fabric, cotton fabric, and gunny fabric. I had a hard time finding a fourth texture cloth at home, so I used kitchen paper towels as the fourth texture material.
#4 FORM and UNITY
In my fourth circle, I used cubes with length, width, and height to present the form with a three-dimensional visual effect, and arranged and combined together to make it appear cohesive or coherent to present unite.
#5 COLOR and BALANCE
For my fifth circle, I wanted to make a cute work, so I used warm colors and a balanced heart shape. This work reminds me of NOTAN we learned about last week.
#6 LINE and EMPHASIS
I outlined my final circle with simple lines and filled one of the grids with color as a focal point to catch the viewer's eye.
