Question: At the execution, what do they say about Carton?

Answer: Before Carton dies, he has a vision of the future in which many of the revolutionaries go to the guillotine, the violence and blood thirst of the Revolution gives way to goodness, peace and freedom. In his vision, he sees Mr. Lorry, Doctor Alexandre Manette, and the Darnay family living a beautiful and joyful life, all of whom remember him lovingly. He also sees Lucie and Darnay having a son, whom they name after him and will become the man Carton wished he was. With this vision in mind, Carton gets closer to his end and whispers to himself, "It is a far, far better thing that I do, than I have ever done; it is a far, far better rest that I go to than I have ever known." After his execution, throughout the city of Paris, everyone recalls Carton being relaxed when he recited at the funeral: " I am the Resurrection and the Life..." For, Carton realizes that by giving Darnay a chance to live his life by sacrificing his own, he has redeemed his dissipated life, he has endeared himself forever to Lucie, and he has attained "sanctuary" in the hearts of his loved ones.

Sydnd he used it almost like a drug as he became more and more addicted to it. He wasted many chances for success like Stryver but for some reason did not take it. He had a hard childhood after the death of his parents. He went to law school where he met his colleague Stryver. Before Lucie weds Darnay, Carton confesses his love to her, though he thinks himself as essentially worthless. Carton resembles the theme of Sacrificial Hero who gave his life to save his friends. Dickens’s common use in his text of other resurrection imagery suggests that he did intend for Carton’s death to be redemptive. Carton expresses that he does not like Charles and said we may have the same appearance but don't have similar personalities. Styver never lived up to his expectation even though he already obtained his full potential but carton lived livelily.

Question:
What does Carton foretell for Charles and Lucie, and how does their future bring honor to his name?

Carton before dying tells that Mr lorry,Dr Manette and the darnay family will live a happy life without seeing any trouble from any side.He sees that Lucie and darnay will have a proud son,who will be the person carton always wanted to be.They will name their son after Carton which will bring a honour to carton's name as there son will succeed and go far in life. He wont lack self confidence like Carton did .He will be ahead of every child or person unlike Carton as he was in Stryvers command.arton was never able to become the man thathe always wanted to be.he wanted live a better life where people would care for him and he wouldnt always be in Stryvers Shadow.
He wasnt able to become that sort of man as he lacked the confidence stryver has, although carton was much smarter.Carton wants Darnays son to bring honour to the name Carton, and he wants it to be a name to be proud to have because it has so much respect.Carton wants him to succeed in life and live a better life that him in which people cared for him and he was not living in someones shadow.Carton was really before others and time as he was suffering form depression. He didnt have a family to calm and talk to him and still didnt. He was sad as he was lonely.

Our question:
Why was Carton unable to become the man he always wanted to be?

The Footsteps Die Out Forever
As the carts carrying the fifty-two prisoners roll through the Paris streets, people crowd to see Evrémonde go to his death. In his cart, Carton ignores the yelling crowds, focusing instead on the seamstress. When they reach the guillotine, they discuss the afterlife, taking no notice of prisoners steadily being executed ahead of them. They exchange a kiss before she ascends the guillotine, and he then follows her in a tranquil mood, remembering the resurrection passage from the Bible. Meanwhile, The Vengeance wonders why Madame Defarge is not there to witness Evrémonde's execution. Before he dies, Carton has a vision of the future in which many of the revolutionaries go to the guillotine and the evil of the Revolution gives way to goodness and true freedom. In his vision, he foresees long and happy lives for Mr. Lorry, Doctor Alexandre Manette, and the Darnay family, all of whom remember him lovingly. He also pictures Lucie and Darnay having a son, whom they name after him and who will become the man Carton always wanted to be. With this vision in mind, Carton goes to his death thinking, "It is a far, far better thing that I do, than I have ever done; it is a far, far better rest that I go to than I have ever known."
