1a.I liked the part where they talked about how competition between housing developers increases the standard of the homes.

1b. I found how competition acted in a positive way intriguing. In Vienna, the competition between developers drives innovation, and affordability and makes the standard of the houses even greater. As I had not considered that, I found it interesting.

2a. I found the collaborative idea in particular especially interesting.

2b. This idea stood out to me as unlike regular housing, collaborative housing allows people to shape their home to the way they want it. I found that interesting as the idea of being able to design your own human is intriguing to me.

3a. The gentrification made me think differently about housing.

3b. I initially thought that old houses had to be demolished for new ones to be built, this idea of gentrification allows a cheaper and better way of creating upgraded houses.

Seeing the effectiveness of this idea, I think now think that more cities should start implementing this idea instead of demolishing buildings.

1a. I liked the part of the video wherein they went in-depth as to why public housing projects like ones found in Vienna succeeded, whereas those in places like the USA failed.

1b. It was interesting to me because I was wondering the same thing. "Why would such a small, relatively minor nation like Austria be so successful in public housing projects whereas such an economic powerhouse like the USA would fail?"

2a. Personally, I felt that the affordable, high-quality design of Viennese housing struck me as awesome. It's not like Chinese public housing, wherein the quality is very low (tofu dreg), nor is it as a horrid failure as American housing projects. The fact that it's also high-quality struck me as very egalitarian, which is a quality I see as cool.

2b. I felt that the fact it was so high-quality made it stand out. Take the Aspen Seestadt, for example. It is a public housing project built on an old airstrip. It has various provisions, amenities and a SWIMMING POOL. That quality usually would only be found in high-end condominiums, so seeing it in a public housing project is certainly a surprise.

3a. One of the moments that made me change my views on cities and housing is at the end of the video, where they talk about slums and the effects of density of housing that affects the number of slums within a city's grounds. I now strongly feel that Vienna is taking the correct and efficient approach, even though beforehand I was generally lukewarm about public housing.

3b. If you take, lets say, American public housing projects, they pale in comparison to Vienna's. In the video, they chalk it up to differences in laws (notably zoning laws and land property ownership laws), as well as tradition. For example, in the USA you're expected to pay full rent, no questions asked. However, in Austria, they pay stipends and compensation toward public housing shareholders, which really affects things.

The part I liked the most was when they discussed the creative solutions for affordable housing. It was interesting to see how creativity could address such a big issue.

This section interested me because it gave real world examples of how urban areas could be improved to help people, especially those who are struggling financially. The way they turned unused spaces into livable areas was inspiring and it shows how cities can evolve when theres smart planning.

One solution that was effective to me was the idea of creating modular homes. It can not only reduce the cost of construction but also can change the housing as needed.

I was surprised by the discussion on how cities could make better use of rooftops and other unused spaces. I had never considered how much space is wasted in cities, and it made me rethink how cities are designed.

The idea that cities could become more efficient by simply rethinking their current layout was interesting. It made me realisethat the solution to housing shortages might already exist within cities and that it’s only a matter of redesigning the spaces

The thing I most like about the housing model in Vienna is that it looks at affordability, quality, and community all together. It was the developer competition model that caught my interest. It not only made sure that subsidized housing is available at an affordable price but was also well designed, sustainable, and socially diverse. During the process of building this type of housing, high architectural standards and development of community space have been achieved so as to make the living environment both attractive and livable.

I was surprised by the concept of gentle urban renewal: instead of pushing out its residents with gentrification, Vienna renovates its existing public housing to make it competitive with the private market. This really challenged my perception of how cities could evolve without pushing out low-income communities.

Overall, this model made other states/countries reconsider how cities might better balance density, affordability, and amenity. It is better compared to those cities whose housing policies often lead to segregation, poor design, and unaffordability.
