This book is about respecting the American Flag and what the Flag stands for, although the description seemed somewhat propaganda-ish, I could not find a preview or reviews of this book. The book is linked to a website with lessons and videos on Patriotism and American symbols. It did include some black Americans in the Patriot of the week section that could be included in the Unit, but I would need to further examine it for accuracy.

Ordinary People Change the world is a great resource for books about American Hero's (it includes I am Martin Luther King Jr. and I am Rosa Parks). The website has read aloud videos' and some activity's and a common core curriculum guide for using the 28 book series across the curriculum.

This is a short post about the importance of the eagle in Native American culture, I was looking for a Kindergarten level book or video, but this is all I came up with. Te eagle is so important to indigenous people that it is important that before we talk about the eagle as an American symbol, we should discuss its importance to indigenous tribes long before it became a symbol of the United States.
