This half term, we have been enjoying our Cricket sessions with Jo 🏏The children have been developing their ball skills and having lots of fun with the games that we have been playing 🏏 ⚽ 🏈

The children have been working so incredibly hard on their independent wiring and I am so proud of each of them.

In Drawing Club, we have been drawing and writing about the story setting 🏖️ and creating adventures from the story, What the Ladybird Heard at the Seaside ⛱️🧜 We have also been enjoying exploring the Sea Creatures that appear in the story 🦈 🐬 🦀 🧜 🐋

In our Where in the World topic, 🌎 Bear has been on his travels to different places in the United Kingdom ⛱️ 🏔️ 🏙️ We have been exploring the different localities that Bear travelled to 🗺️ and how they compare to where we live.

In our Maths, we having been exploring number bonds to 10 using " and a bit." We have been using number sentences each time to help us remember e.g. 5 and 3 makes 8. 8 is made of 5 and 3. The children have been using their fingers to show the number bonds.

The year 2s have been working hard in pathways to read and spell. We have looked at the ge/dge spelling rule for the ‘j’ sound in words like edge, fudge, page etc. We have begun reading The Brother’s Grimm fairytales and enjoyed reading The Elves and The Shoemaker together 🧝‍♀️ 👞

Year 1s have done a fantastic job in their phonics screening this week, which is a national phonics test! So proud of them all 🥲

We have been doing geography with Mrs Richards this week. We have identified human and physical features in our local area and compared them to those in Shanghai- a very different place to Runcorn!

The children have shown great enthusiasm for our new book Grandad’s Secret Giant. They have been empathising with the feelings of different characters and writing letters in role as the boy Billy in the book 📚

We have continued our English work about the book Blue John by Berlie Doherty. We have been focusing on using effective verbs in our writing. We discussed what makes an effective verb and found the powerful verbs in our book.

In maths, we have continued our work on multiplication and division. We have been looking at patterns in the times tables to help us improve our recall.

In science this week, we have continued our topic Living Things and their Habitats. We have been looking at different habitats and how they change through the seasons. The children enjoyed investigating a different season and presenting to each other how the habitat changed in each.

In PE, we have been practising our batting skills in cricket. We enjoyed different activities practising the skill and control over batting.

We continued creating our music video based on a rap we made, the beatboxing that was coming from our classroom was brilliant! (Sorry other classes)

In our Pathways we published our fantastic write-away tasks: our persuasive leaflets were astounding! The children researched about landfill and it's effects on the local area.

We started a fantastic science unit-Earth and Space! We have learnt about the Solar System, the Moon and how we are all in orbit with one another-some out of this world facts!

Finally, we have continued our Sports Day practice- the children are chomping at the bit for the real thing!

In our wider curriculum lessons, we have been focusing on Science this week. Years 3 and 4 have begun learning about living things and their habitats, while Years 5 and 6 have started exploring Earth and Space.

This week, we will be practising for Sports Day. Let's hope the weather is kind to us!

It is crucial that I hear from children in every school and college, in every community, across the country. Without hearing from your students, their experiences, views and aspirations risk being missing from the national picture that will help shape future policy.

At a time of significant change for children and young people, it is more important than ever that their views are reflected in policy making. Through this survey, I can take the voices of your students directly to the centre of government.

Tuesday we created a large world art project using a large green piece of paper and sticking different coloured blue papers and materials to make a world.  The children also enjoyed playing wooden blocks and mini blocks and creating paper jelly fish.

Wednesday this week, the children were feeling very active and had a big game of tay. By request we also had some different avengers activity sheets out to complete.

Thursday continuing on with 'The great big green week' we did some junk modelling. This is always a big hit with the children and there were some wonderful crafts from a kitten house and a large silly monster!

Friday we finished our week off with the film, 'The Mitchells Vs The Machines' and had pizza for snack.
