The Alaska purchase was at first not very liked by a lot of people. They said it was a waste of money and called it many names but turned more favorable when gold was discovered in Alaska's Klondike River in 1896 which sparked a gold rush and oil. This purchase also kicked Russia out of North America.

The Alaska perspective of the U.S was positive and negetive. Russia wanted to sell its Alaska territory, which was remote, sparsely populated and difficult to defend, to the U.S. rather than risk losing it in battle with a rival such as Great Britain.Alaska suffered from a bit of an inferiority complex and its own internal politics. In the wake of “Seward’s Folly,” Alaska avoided national attention until its Gold Rush began in the 1890s which profited Alaska.

Overall, We believe that purchasing Alaska has only benefited the U.S in a positive way and helped are economy grow bigger by the resources that were provided in Alaska. Such as the gold and the oil that was found which helped change the mind of many citizens that thought it was a big waste of money.
