He talks about how he doesnt know where he fits because one group might not except him because of one of his many identities. It just shows how society has a hard time excepting people and their identities.

When he does this i can match which name goes to which place and ethnicity. He also tries to see what he adapt as, almost like he is still trying g to figure it out, then towards the end he decides to take his own stance in doing both, being both.

I think this poem relates to Dubois’s Double Consciousness because in the poem he says “ The duality of My identity like two sides of the same coin.” This connects because in Dubois concept he stated “ two souls, two thoughts, the unreconciled striving; two warring ideas in one dark body.” This shows how they both are stuck in one. Let with two consciousness.

The poem connects to Dubois' theory of double consciousness because the speaker says that his name belongs to two worlds. What he means by two words is that one relates to his American side and one to his Latinx side. He feels as though he has to explain his ways especially since he repeats it three time in three different ways. This makes him seems like he doesn't know himself while at the same time he does.

DuBois connects to double consciousness because in order to get a opportunity he has to use a duel name that isn't as hard, which erases the history behind his name. Which makes him live a double life because when he's out he's one person and another by himself so he had to learn how to balance that.

This poem connects to Du Bois'
concept of double consciousness in a couple of ways. For example, in the first couple of lines it mention the protagonist's name, which can be said in two ways, further accentuating the concept of double consciousness. My next example takes place a couple lines later i the poem, where the protagonist speaks of the duality between his birthplace and the place he was raised, these places being Washington, DC (birthplace) and Connecticut (Place he was raised), this helps drive home the concept of double consciousness,
