His idea of becoming an artist came to him when he realized he could draw really well.  His skills gained a lot of attention and they couldn't be ignored.  Norman Rockwell, one of the most superior painters ever, attended Chase Art School during his freshmen year of high school . Norman quit high school to enroll in the Nation Academy of Design. Rockwell was so determined to become an artist, he rode subways for two hours just to take art classes !

Norman Rockwell painted his very last picture six months before his heart  breaking death. He became the art editor of the Boy's Life magazine, which was a magazine for Boy Scouts. This awesome illustrator drew the Four Freedoms during World War II after hearing President Franklin D. Roosevelt talk about them. His Four Freedoms paintings helped the government sell $133,000,000 in war bonds! Rockwell has painted many advertisements for insurance companies, different toothpaste brands, as well as Boy Scout calendars, and handbooks. This artist had many of his paintings published in the Saturday Evening Post. Norman Rockwell was so talented he had a museum named just for him! In 1977, Rockwell received the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Norman won the medal because he portrayed "the American scene unraveled freshness and clarity, and with insight, optimism and good humor."
