         <description><![CDATA[<div>The ingestible chip could revolutionize medication reconciliation in the EHR for hospitals and clinics. As a nurse, one of the many tasks assigned is the verification of the patients' medications and the last time they were taken. Many times the patients forget to bring the list of their medications with them or they forgot when they last took them. The ingestible chip could help create a more accurate list for the patients' records and be able to more accurately continue them on their medication regimen.  </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I believe that this is a great innovation to increase compliance with medications, which could increase compliance with the treatment of chronic diseases. As an emergency center nurse, the majority of the patients I cared for were patients that were non-compliant with their medications; therefore, the treatment was to treat the existing symptoms, recommend them to take their medications as prescribed, and then follow up with their primary care physician. This technology could help providers more accurately care for the patients because of the trending data that could be viewed on the app. The increase in compliance could decrease the cost of care that is spent treating admissions due to non-adherence to treatments for chronic diseases: diabetes, congestive heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, etc. </div>]]></description>

         <title>The Ingestible Chip</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The ingestible chip is a micro-chip made of copper and magnesium that is embedded in a pill form of a medication. When the pill is swallowed, the stomach acid activates the chip. The chip then sends signals to a detector patch, the size of a band aid, that is worn by the patient. The detector then sends the information to an app on the patient's and, with patient's permission, to their physician's smartphone or device. The chip can monitor heart rate, physical activity, sleep patterns, and the date and time the patient took the medication. This technology  monitors the effects of the medication and the patient's adherence to the medication regimen.</div>]]></description>
