Conclusion: In our experiment we discovered that there is more than 1 colour in markers. In fact all the colours below are a mixture of different inks making 1 mixture( A being black, C is purple and U is light purple). This happens because the water travels up the filter paper taking the ink with it. Different colours in the markers have different solubilities, meaning they separate at different times.

Step1: Put on safety gear(goggles & apron).
Step 2: Place bench protector on table.
Step3: Fill beaker up to two centimeters with salt solution.
Step4: Draw a faint line 3 centimeters up from each of the filter paper strips, horizontally.
Step5: Draw over faint line with different markers on each strip 3 times, making sure you dry the ink before applying another line on top.
Step6: Slide the strips through the straw making sure they are a fair distance apart so they won't touch in the beaker.
Step7: Place the straw over the beaker making sure that the water is just below the line of ink.
Step8: Sit back, relax and watch what happens.

Although this wasn't a completely fair experiment because one of the filter paper strips was shorter in width. Meaning the water travelled up faster because there was less room for the water to cover.
