         <title>Philippines and China should be friends?</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Improved bilateral relations between the Philippines and China and the threat of terrorism in the region make a stronger case for joint military exercises, a top Chinese diplomat said.<br>"I think it is very important for the two militaries to exchange best practices, share intelligence, and even consider the possibility of having joint training exercises because the objective is clear," Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Zhao Jianhua said&nbsp;<br>"I think the intention of both sides have been very clear but we need to explore what are the proper ways and channels to do it,"<br>As the Marawi crisis rages on its sixth week, the Philippines on Wednesday welcomed a donation from China of multi-million pesos worth of assault and sniper rifles with ammunition to augment the military's firepower.</div><div>The Chinese government also donated P5 million ($100,000) to families of soldiers killed and wounded in the Marawi clashes.<br><br></div><blockquote><strong><em>PH and China should have joint military exercises: China envoy</em></strong></blockquote>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council reported that a brownout is being experienced in Tacloban City and Palo, Leyte.<br>A magnitude 6.5 earthquake hit eight kilometers west of Jaro, Leyte at 4:03 p.m Thursday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said, as local officials reported casualties and damage to infrastructure.<br>In an advisory, power distributor Visayan Electric Co.          <title>President Duterte set a new record </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>After one year in office, President Duterte’s net satisfaction rating hit a new record high despite various issues hounding his administration, including summary killings in his war against illegal drugs and his declaration of martial law in Mindanao.<br>Based on the survey conducted by the Social Weather Stations (SWS) from June 23 to 26, almost eight in 10 or 78 percent of Filipino adults expressed approval of Duterte’s performance, and only 12 percent were dissatisfied, yielding a net satisfaction rating of “very good” +66.<br>Public satisfaction with Duterte rose in the Visayas and balance Luzon or areas outside Metro Mania, but dropped in his home region Mindanao.<br>Duterte obtained the highest rating among class E at +67, up seven points from +60; +59 among ABC respondents, also up by three points from +56; and +66 in class D from +64.<br><br></div><h1><strong><em>Rody gets record-high satisfaction rating</em></strong></h1><div><br></div>]]></description>
