As a PRIDE mentor and Executive Social Media Manager of the program, it is my duty to bring awareness to important topics in our school and teach freshmen students how to use their time carefully and mindfully. I serve as a support service for freshmen and I provide them important advice regarding their transition. My plan is to take half of my lunch period out to help mentor freshman until they get a clear understanding of the lesson, and have fun!

Many freshman struggle to transition from middle school to high school; they are unaware of how to utilize their resources or pick up the necessary study habits to help them succeed and overcome the rigors of their new school environment.

Talks about how students with no access to education or trouble adjusting to education work better and are more successful when they are working with a mentor or someone who can help them adjust to their new school environment. This ties to my service hours where I can ensure all freshman are comfortable with their new high school environment through mentoring programs and giving them adequate assistance so they can succeed here at CHS. Students with mentors are 52% more likely to attend school and 78% more likely to give back/volunteer in their communities-

Mentored as a junior and a senior

I have gotten to give real advice to many freshmen about ACT, HOCO, Study habits, and connect with them on a deeper level!

I have gotten to work with many teachers and network with many staff members.

I made some new and lifelong friends through mentoring and have learned to work with all sorts of people

Gave up my lunch period (25 minutes) to help with freshmen

I built bridges between freshman and helped them make friends within their class

Taught them meaningful lessons to help them acclimate to their high school environment. (Notability, Study habits, etc.)

Went to freshman kickoff, open house, and curriculum night to give tours.

Kept them engaged

Helping them get to know us and each other better along with staff

Lead them and gave them instructions and walkthroughs

Finding games and activities to play with them during the week.

My informed action counts as the Social media aspect of my Pride experience

I used my platform to spread news, talk about clubs and sports freshmen might be interested in, and overview some of the accomplishments the PRIDE mentors have.

I spent hours making the perfect Canva posts, reaching out to clubs and staff to make reels and videos, and worked with people I never have to create good digital content
