My name is Cássia and I live in São Paulo, Brazil. I have an English language and literature degree. Currently, I'm pursuing a PhD in Bilingual Education. At the moment, I teach at the udergraduate level, but one of my professional goals for 2026 is to teach in an IB school. I teach a post-graduation course where many of my students work for IB schools and I needed to learn about it in order to help them, and ended up so amazed by what I discovered that I decided I'd like to join an IB school.

How can we work with language and literature in an age where reading longer texts is becoming more and more challenging. How can I show Senior Schools students that reading literature is fundamental to build empathy and crucial to help us see the world through another person's eyes.

In order to develop positive professional relationships, I can make sure I offer constructive (and polite) feedback to different peers taking the course with me. I can also make sure I learn from my peers what is like to work in an IB school, as it can help me successfully transfer to this learning environment in 2026.

I want to understand better how students are assessed in an IB course, I want to better understand how the English language and literature curriculum is built in an IB school and I want to network with different peers who teach in IB schools around the world.
