Day one - Meeting and greeting

On the first day, we met the Turkish students from Aselsan Konya Mesleki ve Teknik Anadolu Lisesi School. We introduced ourselves and noticed the similarities and differences between our cultures. Thus, we collaborated effectively in making a poster about inclusion and leadership. Our team chose unity and diversity as representative values of this project. We wrote the motto in both languages to emphasize interculturality.

The cultural program included a walk in the center of Konya and a visit to the Selimiye Mosque. I was fascinated by the local architecture. Also, we tasted specific Turkish dishes for the first time, and I really liked the dessert .🕌🇹🇷👩‍🎓

Day two - Diversity is a fact, but inclusion is a choice

The next day was the perfect opportunity for us to discover more about inclusion and leadership, to understand that the differences between us make us unique and special. We learned to promote inclusion in a fun way, through games like 'Break the chain' and 'Find the leader. We experienced the frustration of not being accepted in a group of children, in order not to put others in this uncomfortable situation.

We also presented the posters made on the first day and described the meaning of logo and motto that we chose.

The game that I liked the most was a quiz with questions about Romania and Türkiye. It was interesting to learn new information, such as their national currency (Turkish lira) or the traditional dance from Konya (dervish).

Also, on the second day we visited a garden with blue butterflies flying around us, the 'Butterfly Garden'. We saw exotic plants and animals in a fascinating setting, similar to their natural habitat.🦋🌿

Day three - Enjoy the snacks and let’s dance!

The third day showed us how important tolerance and empathy are towards people with disabilities. We watched an emotional video, based on real facts, which led us to help people in need, at school and in our free time. We also tried to draw with the hand that we don't usually use, to understand the frustration of not being able to do something. We realized that some people make great efforts to do things that seem trivial to us and that they need to be understood and supported.

The Turkish students also prepared a picnic for us with their favourite dishes. We were dressed in traditional Romanian clothes and we danced dances specific to both cultures.

In the evening we visited the Bedesten Bazaar and the Aziziye Mosque.💃🧺🌳🍒🍪

Day four - Leadership activities

Day four was about leadership. We identified what a great leader should do and how he should think. We created a poster with the necessary qualities and skills for an ideal leader and tried to develop them during the activities. We had to solve a puzzle with quotes about leadership, which was a challenge for us. Another interesting game was the tangram puzzle. Only one student from each team could see the final image and he had to explain to the others how to place the pieces to make it correctly. We discovered that we are stronger when we are an united team, but we need someone to coordinate and support us in order to be motivated and organized. We understood that a true leader needs patience, attention, modesty and courage.🧩

In the evening we visited the Mevlana Museum and the Kule Tower.

Day five - See you next time, dear friends!

Today was the last day! We divided again into mixed teams, with students of both nationalities. We tried to make the highest tower, out of sticks and marshmallows and we had ingenious ideas to build it. We also made a castle out of glasses. The rule of the game was not to touch the glasses with our hands, but only with rubber bands. We discovered the right strategy, but we had to be well synchronized and focused.

Then, we had the awarding ceremony of Erasmus+ completion certificates. It was an emotional moment where we laughed and cried. We thanked the Turkish students and teachers for their hospitality and generosity, because they made a memorable week for us. I will definitely remember the activities carried out together. We took many pictures and hugged a lot. 📸🤗🏅

We could not leave Türkiye without visiting one of its most beautiful areas: Cappadocia.
