Reducing sentences - creating shorter sentences with the same meaning.

the easiest way to introduce reduced forms to your students is through  songs as well as facilitating student-led discussions and group activities that role-play American slang conversation.

Overusing generalisations
Example:

Using superordinate terms such as "flower" for "tulip"

referential level - in terms of awoid explaining something proppely - like using the word "thing" refering to anything or everything.

code-switching: just using the Danish word (fx my knallert)

anglicizing: trying to make a Danish word sound English 

literal translation: learner makes a word-for-word translation (i take myself in the neck/jeg tager mig selv i nakken)

paraphrase: learner uses other English words in trying to explain/find the word ('moped' as a type of transportation ..)

generalisation: The learner assumes that she can reach a goal by using a generalised L1 term

restructuring: Learner is unable to finish a sentence patter, breaks off and starts in a new way 

word-coinage: Learner constructs a new L1 word
