#internationalization as a daily business

Today was about why and how to put internationalization into curriculum. We talked about how international we already behave (professional and private) (and even unconsciously). It's funny and sad at the same time, that the whole group is somehow connected to someone abroad, but not really linked with direct neighbors. This is a fact I already found out and started to work with, but I needed the last push just to do so.

# Creating something makes you happy and confident (and maybe people around you)
We were allowed to make dream catcher today. It was amazing to create something with your own hands and experience the local history. People on the beach were so excited (and me too) that I could not help but show them my dreamcatcher and clarify the story. I probably would not have done that a week ago. So my own change already got started :)

quote of the day: If you want to change, JUST TRY! You never know if it will change something, but if you don't try, nothing will change at all.

Today we talked about the internationalization of our schools and I found it very enriching to enter into an exchange with the others of our group. For example, I will use the football World Cup this year to push this topic forward. Furthermore, I talked to Svenja for a long time about our international project "I Arts" and how we firmly anchor this in the timetable for example, and based on this project, we considered how far our colleagues would get into the boat.
Personally creating a dream catcher has given me a lot of spirit, even though I have not finished it yet, as a symbol of the cycle of life. Thank you!
Even if we do not know what the future looks like, we can contribute to it by being responsible with our earth and by being able to change small things as a model.

"The important thing ist not to learn the language, it is to learn how to communicate with people!" - That is my quote of the day.

I was impressed with the way my colleagues handle projects for their pupils, focusing on international aspects. That is absolutely amazing and raises the bar for my future projects. I hope, I can do them justice....

The dreamcatcher I built is a bit crooked, but I hope it works anyway. I think the dreams don't know what it should look like, so I guess it might work ;-)

Integrating internationalism into the curriculum is being the main target of our last KA1 application. Although our school has already done a lot to start it, there is lot to intensify it. Being a global citizen and acting like it in a sustainable way is somehow a very narrow path. The danger of choosing environmental topics in classroom can make pupils get bored and now sensitive for this theme. To choose wisely the way and let them decide might be a solution to this dilemma.

Meeting with colleague from Guadeloupe Lycee
Being in time is not important like we are expecting it in Germany. It is just our cultural heritage and tradition. Oral communication must always be seen from the the perpective of sender and recipient, as messages are encoded and it does not mean that the message will be decoded in the way I expect. Even written communication must sometimes be revised and repeated.

Making the ESJEA International Audit Template was extremely important to get an overview of the internationalization that already exists in school, many of the parameters are something that we never even thought about it. Equally important is knowing what is done in other schools / countries and sharing experiences.

Let's hunt for dreams.

Filling in the survey of international work, I realized that our school does develop a lot of activities towards the outside, we do try to open our minds and our reality. Probably our links with local schools is less important, but they are there, mostly because we share the same reality and we do not feel that it is important to live the same reality.
It was also interesting to compare the activities done in each school: even if we come from different countries activities look alike.
One important idea was that international work does not need to be huge, we can start with small things, but we do need to do it: it is important for the students, for the school, for the teachers, for the European community.
Only if we become global citizens, we will feel that internationalization is “home”
