My aunt gifted me with this book of poems. It was my first introduction to poetry and the author Shel Silverstein. It fostered my love of poems and creative writing. I use examples from it to teach my students about creative writing.

This was the first series of books that I read on my own in 2nd grade. I loved Amelia's silly antics and the literalness of her character. It is also a great tool for teaching idioms!

I started to read this series of books in middle school because I thought the characters in the books were so cool. The series was like a (window) in my life because it mirrored the typical teenage drama that I was dealing with like friends and boys during that time of my life.

I started reading this Death Series of books during my last year of college to keep my mind off of a painful break-up I was going through. I feel that this book is representative of a (sliding door) because it was a very transitional time in my life. One door was closing on a long term relationship, but yet a new door was opening with college graduation and beginning a career.
