         <description><![CDATA[<div>A convergent plate boundary is when two tectonic plates are moving toward each other. If the two plates are of equal density, they will usually push up against each other, forming a mountain chain. If they are of unequal density, one plate usually sinks beneath the other in a subduction zone. An example where this boundary has created a mountain rage is the Rocky Mountains in Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho, and Montana.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The breaking rocks allows the overriding plate to slip over part of the subducting plate along the fault line. The plate movement on the ocean floor can cause a tsunami.<br>Converging plates in subduction zones often become stuck. Pressure may build within rocks until they fracture. If the break is along hundreds of kilometers of fault line a megathrust earthquake occurs</div>]]></description>

Many transform boundaries are found on the sea floor, where they connect parts of diverging mid-ocean ridges. California's San Andreas fault is a transform boundary.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Plates separated by a transform boundary do not glide past each other. Friction in the rocks causes the plates to lock. The strain in the rocks slowly increases until they fracture. The sudden release of energy is what we feel during an earthquake.<br>The San Andreas Fault is the transform boundary between the North American Plate and the Pacific Plate. During the 1906 San Francisco earthquake the northern section of the San Andreas Fault slipped northward along the fault from San Juan Bautista to Cape Mendocino, a total of 296 miles.</div>]]></description>
