Something to consider

To some extent it is important that a teacher develops a connection and a relationship with his/her students. It would be nice if your teacher respects you and has a connection with you but then again it would be weird if your teacher was too close to you unless it's the same gender teacher. If its opposite gender and they have a close relationship I think that is just disturbing. All students do deserve someone to believe in them completely because no matter what everyone needs someone to be there for you through thick n thin. Some things that she said in the ted talk video was; Every student deserves someone to believe in them, even though you get a bad grade on an assignment a teacher's job is to keep that students head up, and motivate them so they could do better, and a teacher should always be there for their students no matter what. This relates to my world because I have a well relationship with my coach, which is also my child development teacher. She is always there for me when I need her , and I can count on her whenever I am having trouble at my internship with the kids. She has been my teacher and coach for 4 years now , and throughout my high school years I have been by her side. Our relationship has grown because of how long we have been by each other. Our relationship is important to me because she has never left my side throughout my high school years. It is important to have a positive relationship with your students in case of anything. You teacher should be your role model, and you should always be able to look up to them. Although if its opposite gender, and you are a little too close to your teacher then people would start to think negative, that's why I believe to some extent it is important that a teacher develops a connection and a relationship with his/her students.

Diana Rivas
November 1st, 2017
Period 3
Mr. McCarrick

It is important that a teacher develops a relationship with his/her students because it would allow the student to be more comfortable when asking their teacher for help. Usually, when a student does not know their teacher or is very shy, they won’t ask any questions or talk as much as they would want to. During my years in school, I had never really built a relationship with my teachers and I’d always be afraid to ask them questions because I felt like I was the only one who wouldn’t know the answer. I didn’t think other people in the class could be as clueless as I was. All students whether they do great in school or not as good as they could do should have someone who believes in them completely. Often times people feel as though they’re not good enough or they aren’t meeting any standards because they don’t have anybody who believes in them completely. Rita said, “Every child deserves a champion, an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of a connection and insists that they become the best that they can possibly be.” Relationships between a student and a teacher can leave an impact. That means that students and teachers should get to know which way is best to teach in order for the student to learn. Usually, students feel better when their teacher gives them inspiring words. Rita put +2 on the paper instead of -18 and when he asked about it she told him that he didn’t get them all wrong. She told asked him what he would do on the next test and he said he would do better. She put the smiley face and the “plus two” because it made him feel like she was proud that he at least got those two right. It made him feel better about how he did.
