The unification or revolution of Haiti was multiple conflicts from 1791- 1804. They wanted to overthrow the French to free the enslaved people. One reason that this took place is because of the spread of Enlightenment ideas from the American and French Revolutions. It also was the first independent black republic in the world. Haiti soon became a free republic after the revolution in 1791 that declared independence for all people from enslavement.
