There are so many variety of ways to welcome and include elders to the daycare. Ask the elder to talk about the cultural and or talk about what they’ve learn when they were growing up if they were growing up out on the land. Give the elder or ask the elder if they want tea or water along with snacks.

Give feedbacks when the elder is done.

When inviting elders to the daycare facility, we would have to welcome them by asking if they want tea made, if they want to sit on a chair or use a pillow as a cushion, offer if they want water or any grubs/snacks they want. Don’t ask too many personal question unless being asked a question by the elder but tell and explain what the plan will be with what they have to do when being with the children.

I include an elder by asking if that elder would like to join us in a daycare by a phone call or in person ask the elder what would be appropriate to ask them anything about how they lived.

We would welcome them with tea or coffee with bannock and maybe some country food. Tell the children that they will learn about how our elders use to live.
