Besides turning complete nobodies into A-list stars on the hit HBO show, Game of Thrones, Nine Gold has a large sum of movies that did extremely well, such as Les Misérables (you know the good one with Eddie Redmayne in it), Hot Fuzz, A Christmas Carol, Vera Drake, Bright Star, Leap Year, Beowulf, The Chronicles of Narnia, and a bunch of boring Star wars movies. Gold also had many awards to her name mainly because of Game of Thrones, Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Casting for a Drama Series win in 2015 and 2016 and Emmy nominations for the first six seasons.

From what i can tell, there are only two real ways for becoming a casting director.

1. You can try to become a intern at a casting agency which is the better option because its a quicker way up the ladder of fame, but that is usually the route most inspiring actors go, even though most agencies don't accept actors in that role (pun included)

2. The 2nd option, is kinda a crappy one but its the most realistic one, and it is starting at the very bottom, like a low-paid job that works with the casting director like getting them coffee, put maybe if you are lucky you can start a little higher and work with a casting director as a casting director assistant, that is still pretty low on the spectrum but it'll get you there just a little faster.

The biggest question is, Would all this work be worth it?

Just because the job doesn't take any degree or any real qualifications doesn't mean it'll be a easy job to get into, you'll start at a very low point and work pretty much minimum wage for about 4 years of your life, just trying to get to that point where you will start to rise into the industry, and even then your a few good years from becoming a actual Casting director, everything that you have been working on to get that far is like a constant amount of on the job training. Now let's say you finally made it the casting director position, after 8 to 10 years, and its for a very cheap and cheesy show nothing major, or in a big theater, a small fish gig, the pay might not be much better than where you were in the beginning and you gotta ask yourself are you really making any kind of impact? To those who dream big enough, yes this process is worth it but you will need major thick skin to make it.
