An accurate representation of Abigail:

A younger, child actor, such a Mackenzie Foy, would better represent Abigail. She is closer to the young age of the Williams girl with the same features. In other depictions of the play, Abigail is played by a much older actor such as Winona Ryder, but in reality, there is too large of an age difference to be realistic.

One specific motive the young girl may have had to begin the rumors of witchery, was to capture the attention of John Proctor. After their affair was halted, Abigail was desperate for the attention and affection of the man who had once given her so much of what she was now being deprived of.

Another one of Abigail's motives was to get rid of Elizabeth Proctor, John Proctor's wife. Abigail had an affair with John while working for the family, completely fell for him and is convinced he loves her. In her mind if she can ultimately eliminate Elizabeth, then she can become Johns wife.

Another one of Abigail’s motives was to avoid severe punishment for casting spells, adultery and for basically attempt of murder when plotting Elizabeth’s death. By accusing others of witchcraft, it took some of the attention off of her and onto the alleged witches. She would have blamed anyone to make sure she was not accused.

But it is a whore's vengeance, and you must see it now." pg 198
This quote shows how Abigail had once received Proctor's full attention, and been successful in seducing him. it also reveals that John no longer feels that way towards Abigail, as he is trying to get the judge to see her devilish plans.

I danced for the Devil; I saw him; I wrote in his book; I go back to Jesus; I kiss His hand." (pg. 189) This was said right before Abigail started to accuse other people. It shows how she decided to protect her name by confessing and accusing others.

Abigail Williams served as an antagonist in "The Crucible" Throughout the story you saw that Abigail was a cold-hearted women who was manipulative. Abigail was a static character and seemed as a villain in the play. Dark red symbolizes the way Abigail's character was. Red can be symbolized by passion, anger and aggression. Abigail was very head strong and she fought for what she wanted. She had a lot of aggression when it came to getting rid of Elizabeth to have John Proctor to herself. This represents strong determination, which Abigail had.

1.) "I broke a million hearts just for fun, they call me a homewrecker." There aren't many better ways to describe Abigail than using the lyrics of that song, she broke hearts by accusing innocent people of witchcraft and they died.
2.) "are we really over now? maybe i can change your mind" This lyric is perfect for Abigail because she doesn't believe that their affair is over and that once she gets rid of Elizabeth she can change his mind and be his wife.
