At the beginning of the semester my faith began as being defined as one word: Catholic. With many new challenges I rarely had time to speak to God and let him hear me. As time and the semester went on, I noticed that because of my religion class my faith began to change. It was a good change. I began to understand that some days you will feel closer to God than other days. As my essential truth says "accept life unconditionally." and that is what i do with my faith as well. In middle school I was super shy and did not know how to be confident in who I am. Over one semester I have become empowered by the people around me. I had a steady group of friends and I was always felt in control. However, as I entered FSHA, many things began to rock my world. My best friend at my old school told me that because we did not go to school together anymore that we did not have to be as close of friends. This truly changed me as a person. I now know that the people you love the most can leave your life so quickly and you have to be willing to sometimes let people go and sometimes fight for them. I learned to not take things in my life for granted. Through this experience and many others I learned that those around me shape who I am. By surrounding myself with positive people who only want the best for me help me to learn about myself. I have began to take life's challenges as opportunities to become stronger and see learn who I truly am. Life is overwhelming and my faith is something I can truly always turn to. Think of how many time you need something or you are sad. God and faith is truly an escape. I believe that people should understand that life is a journey and it can get the best of you. But if others around the world simply take life one day at a time, take every challenge with courage, and every sad time with hope and faith you will truly find yourself along the way. I learned about myself through reading that book. The most amazing thing that stood out to me was the quote about resilience. I believe that everyone one has "unshakeable goodness." Through life's journeys, we learn about our goodness and our resilience. This day to me seemed ordinary until we went up to my friends apartment and I saw one of the most beautiful things I had ever seen. It was a sunset. To me a sunset was an every day thing but this sunset truly had an effect on me. In this sunset I saw God's beauty and gift to me. It helped me realize all the beautiful things in my life. I know now to not take stuff for granted, for beauty and 'perfect' moments are fleeting.
