Persephone crying - hades cheers her up 
Persephone in underworld - helping souls transition

Demeter demands Persephone is released -> screaming shouting

Persephone doesn't want to return -> Eats pomegranate seeds she eats all she is given

Elements of humour in the stereotypical teenage mother daughter relationship.
The collective consciousness of the audience will recognise the caricatured teenage daughter and over protective mother. 

We want the audience to engage emotionally with Persephone. 
We want the audience to root for her. 
We recognise that the compromise is not a satisfactory one. The timelessness of the seasons makes us feel for Persephone - doomed to be split between her two worlds.
