Sound activity - Guessing the voice of birds around us

My sound activity was identifying the birds from listening to their sound. On my country visit to the park I realize the sounds of the nature such as water flowing, birds calling to each other and the wind blowing. These nature sounds made my mind relaxed. So I thought of doing a relaxed and engaging activity related to the sounds of the nature. Without birds, nature would lose her voice and the planet its most engaging envoys. Birds matter precisely because they matter to us. My purpose of this activity was to teach the differences and types of the birds around us, to develop the listening skills of the children and to develop knowledge of the nature in children. I used 5 audio recordings of the sounds of the birds to do the activity.

One of the most important lessons I have learnt from this teaching experience was the importance of the feedback. During this teaching experience I want to find ways to improve my teaching skills. My peers gave me their feedback which was so helpful for me for my next two micro teaching activities. They found the activity so interesting and they got some knowledge about the sounds of birds around us. Building the knowledge about the nature and a relationship with the nature is great for the human health. (Seymour 2016)

Movement activity - move like something from nature

Starting from the me (teacher) everyone (students) are getting a turn to move like something in the nature like wind, trees, rain or even animals like birds, cats and dogs. Kids who are timid in movement activities can be encouraged through this activity and also this activity is a productive way of expressing the feelings of the nature around us. As discussed with my peers this activity seems very engaging to them. Also they like the activity as it also include not only movement but also thinking about the nature. My peers also had fun from doing this activity. Doing a movement activity for fun provide numerous benefits for a child’s physical well-being, learning, and social and behavioral skills. (Journal buddies 2021)

Drama activity - can you say what is it in the nature?

My drama activity was everyone acting something they are interested or familiar with the nature and others will guess what it is. This activity is great for the development of the students as they use all their senses and thinking of something and also getting the opportunity to act what is in their mind. Understanding the role or the character allow students to relate better to different situations and also encourage them to show compassion and tolerance for others. This kind of drama activities allows children to perform different roles and test their own creativity and the reactions and responses of those around them.
