What makes a family is the people around you and the people that care for you the most and how they will do anything to make you happy. How Chris’ family support him throughout the text is by telling him the things he can do when he is disabled and how they can help.I think it’s important to have support from friends and family because those are the ones who love you the most and they care about you. To support this I found the following details in the text “I didn’t like the idea, but Mom and I learned to live with it. Dad took it hard, real hard.” “I hadn’t thought about that when Mr. Evans, an elder in our church, asked me if I wanted to join a wheelchair basketball team he was starting.
“We won’t have the experience of the other teams in the league,” he said. “But it’ll be fun.” “When I told Mom, she was all for it.”

I learned that Chris has a good attitude about the fact that he can’t walk again. I know this because in the text he was never negative to himself and always pushed himself. Also he did not blame anyone about it.

A family is a group of people who help each other and stick be each other’s sides. Chris family supports him be cheering him on and taking him to wheelchair basketball. It is important to have support from family and friends because if not no one will support you, and you will tend to want to give up. For example in the text Chris always had support from his family and friends so he was always positive. But when the dad would not watch him he got distracted and was not doing good.

A person can overcome adversity by keeping a positive attitude towards your problems and getting support from family and friends. I learned that Chris has a very positive attitude about the fact that he can't walk again. An example of this is in the text, “'I didn’t like the idea, but Mom and I learned to live with it,'"

A family is a group of people who love, care, and support you no matter what. Chris' family supports him by showing him that they care and love him. It is important to have support from family and friends because you need support in order to let yourself know that you are able to do something, even if you think you can't your family will. I know this because in the text it states, "“I think they played okay,” Dad said. “just a little nervous. But look at the score. It’s 22 to 14. With all their shooting, Madison is just eight points ahead. We can catch up.” I looked at Dad to see if he was kidding. He wasn’t. He wasn’t kidding, and he had said “we.” I liked that."

What I learned in the text is Chris wants to feel the same and play wheelchair basketball he’s mom was there for him but his dad not really his dad wouldn’t even look at Chris during his games only his mom. But then his dad stared helping him to get better even dad didn’t really liked the wheelchair basketball he still helped his son no matter what because before the accident Chris dad wanted him to play basketball and get better and better in till they had got in a accident then his mom had found him a wheelchair basketball because Chris had lost his legs from the accident so Chris joined the game. So his family will now be there for him.
