Social media can negatively impact sleep habits due to blue light exposure, FOMO (fear of missing out), and the stimulating nature of content, particularly when used before bed. Blue light from screens suppresses melatonin production, making it harder to fall asleep. FOMO can lead to late-night scrolling and a reluctance to disconnect from social media. Additionally, the fast-paced and emotionally charged content on social media can keep the brain active and prevent deep sleep.

TikTok's fast-paced, engaging content can interfere with sleep by stimulating the brain and delaying the release of melatonin, the hormone that regulates sleep. The blue light emitted from screens also suppresses melatonin production, making it harder to fall asleep. Additionally, the fear of missing out (FOMO) and the addictive nature of TikTok can lead to staying up past bedtime, disrupting sleep patterns.
