This course met my expectations by giving me an overview of the role technology can play in education. I especially appreciated this class because I felt that the assignments in this course could be applied to my future classroom. We learned about different educational software and tools, and online learning platforms, and used multimedia resources that I will likely use again. We also learned about flipped classrooms and blended learning which combine traditional face-to-face teaching methods with online learning activities and resources. I feel that this is one way teachers today can keep their students engaged and having fun while learning; something all teachers strive for.

Did you meet your personal expectations during this course? Why or why not?

We also had the opportunity to implement these methods in our lesson facilitation which gave us a small sneak peek into what teaching actually feels like. I was very nervous to do this but I was grateful for the opportunity. I met the expectations of both myself and the assignment because I put effort and creativity into my work. This allowed me to be successful even though it was only my second time formally teaching. Overall I had a great experience in this course.

What was your favorite tech tool you used or learned about during the course or during your observations?

One of my favorite tech tools I learned to use in this course is Padlet. I have only completed two other assignments besides this one with Padlet so I don’t know all of the abilities this resource holds. However, I think the format of these boards is just beautiful if you do a few simple edits. Padlet would also be a great way to deliver information or review information in the classroom that keeps the students in one spot online so there aren’t a million tabs open and it also keeps the student more engaged because it is aesthetically pleasing.

What did you learn in this course that you plan to implement in your future classroom?

I think I’ve already somewhat answered this question but I will re-elaborate and say that I want to use a flipped classroom and blended learning teaching methods in my future classroom. The one thing I worry about most when completing lesson plans is wondering if the students will want to do the assignment and if they’re going to be engaged. It’s hard to get quality work from students and it's hard for students to learn in general if they aren’t being engaged. So, I if use a flipped classroom and blended learning throughout the day I think I will get results and the students will have fun while they are learning even if this requires more work on my end.
