During the week, I was able to enjoy various activities and spend valuable time that cannot be replaced with anything else. At the monument dedicated to veterans of the U.S., which was the main purpose of my visit to the U.S., I felt a heavy feeling that could not be expressed. I was deeply moved by the veterans of the U.S. who sacrificed their lives by bleeding for countless people who did not even know their faces or names. When I visited the headquarters of the U.N., I was able to realize the importance of international cooperation and peace, and I also made a commitment that I should take responsibility that it is not the work of certain people but of all of us. Besides, I felt the grandeur of the world and spent a wonderful week visiting various places such as Brooklyn Dumbo, the Statue of Liberty, Harvard, Yale, mit, Broadway, etc. This experience was not just an overseas tour, but a valuable time that gave me a passion to broaden my horizons and take on new challenges. Based on the experiences and

enlightenment I felt through this exchange, I would like to become a person who communicates and grows further in the world. Although I am sad to not be able to meet my friends from Olea High School in the U.S., it is great to be able to share stories like this!!!!

Through the activities of the Global Academy of the United Nations Veterans, I was able to visit various cities in the United States and experience things that I usually only encountered through news. In Washington, D.C., the Korean War Veterans Memorial was not just a historical event, but the actual sacrifice and its meaning were deeply touching, and the importance of freedom and peace was rethinked. Although the UN headquarters could not see the meeting of politicians, I could travel around with the guide to hear what values and roles the UN valued. The need for international cooperation was much more real than when I only encountered it on the Internet. He also walked directly to MIT, Harvard, and Yale University, looking at the atmosphere and research environment of the world's world-class universities, and felt that studying could not be just for grades, but also for changing the world for the better. This experience made me realize that it is not just a visit, but an attitude to learn and think from a broad perspective no matter what path I go in the future.

On the first day, I arrived at the jfk International Airport in the U.S. and took a bus to downtown New York, so I felt that I was really in the U.S. while walking around famous places in New York. On the second day, I arrived in Washington, saw the aerospace museum, and felt a deep feeling of history at A&M Bush School. After that, I arrived in Boston, visited Times Square, another famous place, after visiting several universities (Yale University, Harvard University, and mit Engineering) in Quincy Market with a 170-year history, and visited the UN headquarters, which is the main purpose of this international exchange. After hearing and feeling how many countries around the world are working hard for peace at the UN headquarters, I clearly knew the purpose of this exchange, and the next day, I came to Korea by plane, leaving behind my regrets about the United States. After arriving, I felt a lot of regret for the United States, but I think I remembered and felt a lot of things thinking about what I learned at the UN headquarters and bus school.

I've only heard of America in words, and I never thought I'd ever be able to go there, but it was a very meaningful experience. I did a lot of fun and meaningful activities without a break, and the most memorable thing is walking through Dumbo, Brooklyn, seeing the daily life of the United States for the first time, seeing the panoramic view of New York from the observatory, and seeing the Statue of Liberty on a cruise ship. 🗽 There were also many things to summarize, including reading a declaration honoring U.N. veterans, visiting the U.N. headquarters, and seeing Times Square.

And there are also things I learned and felt as I saw and heard there. First of all, I came to redefine freedom, but after hearing that America is a free city, it felt like there were more restrictions than I thought. I realized that freedom was guaranteed, but that freedom was guaranteed within the boundaries of the law. The second building is the building. It is said that after the 9/11 terrorist attack killed many people, the height limit was imposed on the building. However, while observing the height limit, all the buildings felt tall and dignified. The cemetery surrounding the buildings was also impressive. Even if the rich died, I thought that it was inevitable human greed that they wanted to be buried next to their buildings. The third is medical insurance. The problem with health insurance in the United States is called hilly and dense. It is said that the rich can afford a lot of hospital bills and the poor support all of them, while the middle class people cannot afford it and go bankrupt. I need to think about a way to solve this problem. Fourth, the Korean War. I took a lecture on world history, Korean history, politics and economy at Busch School, and the strategy of the January 4 Retreat of the Korean War was particularly impressive. When the Chinese army came to help North Korea, I wanted to imitate the accurate judgment and courage to retreat even though they were winning. I also felt a lot about the food. In particular, Koreans seem to be really right to say that. I felt energized when I ate the soup and bread combination with kimchi in 3 days. This was the most delicious thing I have ever eaten 😭😭 The American food was very sweet, very salty, and tough without any moderation. Finally, I thought a lot about the UN. Through a lecture given by a Korean working at the UN, I was able to learn concretely how the UN, which I used to encounter only in textbooks or news, actually operates. The lecturer emphasized the basic roles of the UN, such as maintaining peace, protecting human rights, sustainable development, and international cooperation. He also talked about the importance of language skills required to work for the UN, experience in cooperation with various cultures, and an attitude of understanding the current status and relations of the international community broadly. During my personal visit to the UN headquarters in New York, the United States, the flying of the national flags of various countries made me realize the symbolic meaning of the UN 'world gathering in one place' and I was able to tour the conference room and exhibition space and see in person the scene where important decisions are made by the international community. While listening to the guide, I further realized that the UN is not just a conference organization but is actively involved in the issues of the entire human race, such as climate crisis, conflict resolution, and refugee support. Through this experience, I realized again that the UN is not just an international organization but an important organization responsible for the common future of mankind. As the speaker's words and actual visit to the headquarters were connected, I was able to think deeply about the role I could play as a Korean in the international community. Furthermore, I was able to make a commitment to broaden my perspective as a global citizen and develop an attitude to cooperate with various cultures in the future.

Reflection on Participating in the UN Allied Nations Global Academy

From July 10th to 17th, I had the meaningful opportunity to participate in the 6-night, 8-day “UN Allied Nations Global Academy” program, during which I visited several cities in the United States and experienced a wide range of historical, cultural, and educational activities.

On the first day, after arriving in New York, I toured landmarks such as the Statue of Liberty by ferry and the One World Observatory. It was a valuable experience to witness the symbols and history of the United States firsthand. The energetic atmosphere of New York, a global financial hub where various cultures coexist, left a strong impression on me.

From the second day, we moved to Washington, D.C., where we visited the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum and Texas A&M University’s Bush School of Government and Public Service. There, I learned about the U.S. higher education system and research in the fields of politics and diplomacy, which gave me great inspiration as I reflect on my future career path.

On the third day, we participated in an exterior tour of the White House and an interior tour of the Capitol building, which helped me gain a deeper understanding of the U.S. political system. Standing in front of the Lincoln Memorial and the Korean War Veterans Memorial, I was reminded of Korea’s history and its ties with the United States.

From the fourth day onward, we visited top-tier universities such as Harvard, MIT, and Yale. At MIT, I was especially impressed by the innovation-driven environment of its engineering programs. Harvard's classic and prestigious campus also left a lasting impression.

We also explored cultural sites such as Boston’s Quincy Market, Times Square, and the United Nations Headquarters. The UN tour, in particular, provided a vivid insight into how international organizations work to promote global peace — a truly valuable experience.

Through this academy, I was able to gain a broad range of knowledge encompassing history, culture, politics, and education — far beyond simple sightseeing. It helped me expand my perspective as a global citizen, and I hope to continue challenging myself and exploring the wider world with the inspiration I’ve gained from this journey.

Through the UN Sending States Global Academy, I experienced something far beyond an ordinary trip. This program gave me the opportunity to explore international society, visit world-class universities, and learn from leading global companies. Before leaving, I only thought of the U.S. as “a land of freedom and opportunity,” but during these eight days, I gained much deeper insights.
The first thing that impressed me in New York was the Statue of Liberty. It was not just a tourist attraction, but a true symbol of freedom and peace. In Washington, visiting the Lincoln Memorial and the U.S. Capitol gave me a strong sense of how much effort and sacrifice it takes to protect democracy.
Visiting world-renowned universities such as Texas A&M, Harvard, and MIT was another unforgettable experience. Walking across Harvard’s historic campus, I could feel the depth of knowledge and tradition. At MIT, seeing cutting-edge research facilities motivated me to study harder and dream bigger. I imagined the students there growing into global leaders, and I set a goal for myself to someday represent Korea on the international stage.
The Amazon Fulfillment Center tour was also impressive. Witnessing its advanced automation system showed me how innovation truly changes the world. Visiting the United Nations Headquarters and observing the spaces where international meetings take place helped me realize the importance of global cooperation and peace.
This academy opened my eyes to a new perspective and gave me valuable experiences that I will never forget.

A Journey of Gratitude and Global Dreams: My Experience in the U.S.
Hello everyone,
A month ago, I had the incredible opportunity to visit your country as part of the UN Global Academy program. My journey through the United States was more than just a trip; it was a profound experience that connected my past, present, and future. I wanted to share some of my reflections with you.
Our journey began in the vibrant heart of New York City. Standing amidst the dazzling lights of Times Square and walking across the iconic Brooklyn Bridge felt like stepping into a movie. However, the most moving part of our first day was the visit to the 9/11 Memorial. The quiet, solemn atmosphere there was a powerful reminder of resilience and the importance of remembering history.
From New York, we traveled to Washington D.C., a city that felt like the political and historical center of the world. Visiting the Lincoln Memorial and seeing the U.S. Capitol was inspiring. But for me, as a Korean student, the most profound moment was standing before the Korean War Veterans Memorial. Seeing the faces of the soldiers etched into the wall and reading the inscription, "Freedom Is Not Free," filled me with a deep sense of gratitude for the sacrifices made for my country's freedom. Visiting Arlington National Cemetery further deepened this feeling of respect and remembrance.
A highlight of our trip was the chance to walk through the historic halls of some of the world's most renowned universities. Stepping onto the campuses of Yale, Harvard, and MIT was truly a dream come true. The atmosphere was buzzing with intellectual energy and a sense of endless possibility. It was incredibly motivating to imagine the great minds who have walked those same paths, and it inspired me to dream bigger about my own future.
Our journey culminated with a visit that tied our entire experience together: the United Nations Headquarters in New York. Standing in the place where global leaders gather to discuss peace, security, and cooperation was a surreal and powerful moment. It solidified the purpose of our program and ignited a stronger desire in me to become a true global citizen, one who contributes to a better world.
This trip was a whirlwind of amazing sights, from the Statue of Liberty, a symbol of hope for so many, to the incredible efficiency of an Amazon fulfillment center, a symbol of modern innovation.
Returning to Korea, I brought back more than just souvenirs. I brought back a broader perspective, a deeper appreciation for history, and a renewed sense of purpose. Thank you for the wonderful memories and the warm welcome. My time in your country has left a lasting impression on me, and I hope that one day, we can all meet and work together as friends and global citizens.

Reflection on the U.S. Global Exchange Program

Through the UN Participating Countries Global Academy exchange program, I had the opportunity to visit various cities and institutions in the United States, which became a truly meaningful experience for me. On the first day in New York, I saw the Statue of Liberty, a symbol of freedom and hope, and visited the 9/11 Memorial Park. This was not simply a tourist activity, but a moment of deep reflection. Remembering the countless victims of the tragic event, I felt both gratitude for the peace we enjoy today and a strong sense of responsibility that the international community must work together to prevent such tragedies in the future.

In Washington, I visited the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum and the Texas A&M University Bush School. By seeing the history of aerospace development, I realized how science and technology have transformed humanity. At the Bush School, I listened to lectures from professors and learned about international policy and education in the United States. This broadened my perspective on global issues and motivated me to prepare more diligently to become a leader with a global outlook.

In Boston, visiting Harvard University and MIT allowed me to experience the academic passion of the world’s top institutions. I was deeply impressed by how freely students engaged in discussion and collaboration, showing that knowledge is not only for personal achievement but also for the advancement of humanity as a whole. This inspired me to dream bigger about my own academic journey and to aspire toward contributing to the world.

Finally, the tour of the Amazon Fulfillment Center gave me an up-close look at the innovations of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Watching the automated systems and efficient logistics processes, I realized how digital technology is reshaping both our daily lives and the global economy.

Through this exchange, I not only experienced American culture but also learned the mindset and perspective that a global citizen should have. Every place I visited reminded me that the world is interconnected, and without cooperation and understanding, we cannot build a better future. In particular, the gratitude and longing for peace I felt at the 9/11 Memorial will remain as one of the most important values in my life. This experience has become a stepping stone that connects me to the wider world, and I hope to continue growing through future opportunities for international exchange and cooperation.

This trip to the United States was truly a special experience for me. At first, I felt nervous because of the unfamiliar environment and language, but as time went by, I began to enjoy the fact that I was able to experience a new culture firsthand. Seeing how open-minded and free people in the U.S. were encouraged me to communicate more actively, and through that process, I felt that I had grown as a person.

It was also fascinating to see different cities and natural landscapes of the U.S. with my own eyes, which I had only seen in books or videos before. The most memorable part was interacting with local students and sharing our daily lives and thoughts. Even though my English was not perfect, I realized that sincere communication can go beyond language barriers. This gave me strong motivation to study English even harder in the future.

This experience was more than just a trip—it was a valuable opportunity that broadened my perspective and inspired me to dream bigger. From now on, I want to live with a more open and challenging mindset, carrying these memories with me.

This visit to the U.S. was more than just a travel experience. Living in an unfamiliar culture and environment, I was able to look back on my daily life and thoughts that I had taken for granted. In particular, I deeply felt the importance of an attitude that respects differences in the appearance of local people who are harmonized with various races and cultures. He experienced the 'value of difference', which he did not recognize well in Korea, and vowed to have an open mind before prejudice when looking at others in the future.

In addition, while looking at the historical places in the United States in person, I could feel the vividness of what I had encountered in textbooks as if they were moving. I learned that the learning of the reverberation in the field is much greater, not just knowledge. This experience is likely to lead to an attitude to deeply understand the process and meaning rather than simply placing importance on the results in future studies.

Above all, through this experience, I realized once again that I am a person in the world. Even a small part of it, I was convinced that my dreams and efforts could eventually connect with the wider world, and I also had the courage to take on greater challenges in the future. Time in the United States became a valuable turning point that opened up a new perspective for me.

On the first day, we crossed the Brooklyn Bridge and visited the One World Observatory and the Statue of Liberty. The following day, we explored the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum and later attended a class at the Bush School. On the third day, we visited the Korean War Veterans Memorial, which I believe was the most meaningful part of our UN Participating Countries Global Project. Standing there, I reflected deeply on the sacrifices made during the war. We also visited the Lincoln and Jefferson Memorials, as well as the White House and the Capitol.

On the fourth day, we joined a campus tour at Yale University and spent some time at Quincy Market, where we enjoyed browsing and buying souvenirs. The fifth day took us to Harvard University for a campus tour and to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, which we admired from outside. On the sixth day, we had the chance to tour an Amazon fulfillment center, walk through the lively streets of Times Square, and visit the United Nations Headquarters. Seeing the meeting halls where representatives from around the world gather left a strong impression on me. Finally, on the last day, we went directly to the airport to return home to Korea.

What struck me most throughout this program was the opportunity to experience such a wide range of fields—history, culture, education, industry, and international politics. Each destination carried its own unique meaning, allowing me not only to see but also to learn and reflect. In particular, visiting the UN Headquarters inspired me to think about Korea’s role and responsibility within the international community. This academy has truly been a valuable experience, one that broadened my perspective and helped me feel more connected to the world

This trip to the U.S. was a very meaningful time for me. It was because I could see and feel world-famous attractions and institutions in person while traveling to various cities such as New York, Boston, and Washington, D.C.

First, when I stood in Times Square in New York, I felt as if I was standing at the center of the world with the countless electronic boards and the constant flow of people in front of me. The overwhelming feeling of seeing a scene I had seen on TV or in a movie was really precious. The Statue of Liberty I met in the same city was another touching moment. I could see at a glance why America stands for freedom and hope.

The view of the city from the New York Observatory was really impressive. I thought, "What kind of dreams do people live here?" and it was an opportunity for me to renew my goals and future.

In Boston, I visited Harvard University and Yale University. As one of the best universities in the world, the academic depth and history felt throughout the campus were special. Standing on the statue of John Harvard in front of the Harvard Library, I could see the long tradition of Harvard University, and the antique buildings of Yale University reminded me of European universities and illustrated the value of long-standing culture. The passion and hard work of the students studying here meant a lot to me just by imagining it, and I, too, began to think more seriously about my studies and learning.

The U.S. Capitol, seen in Washington, D.C., was very impressive as a symbol of democracy. Standing in front of the magnificent building, I could feel the weight of American politics again. The various monuments and museums that gathered around them reminded me of the path that America has taken.

Also, when I visited the Korean War Veterans Memorial Park, I felt special as a Korean. It was a place to commemorate the sacrifices of those who sacrificed their lives for freedom and peace in Korea in faraway countries during the Korean War, so I couldn't help but feel grateful and revered.

This trip was not just a tour, but a valuable experience to see and learn firsthand the history, culture, and values of the country of America. The meanings of each place were different, but everyone left a deep impression on me. Through this journey, I have expanded my perspective on the world, and I have become to cherish the values of freedom, learning, and responsibility more in my future life.Thank you for reading my comments!😚
