This shows that Eddie is a caring and generous person because he realizes that Dominguez does not make a lot of money working on the boardwalk with Eddie and he wasn’t very happy with life and Eddie realizes this and when Dominguez mentions going to Mexico Eddie takes a wad of cash out of his pocket and hands Dominguez two 20s to get his wife something nice. I chose this part because it shows the kind of person Eddie is and that he is not a selfish person

I can see how Eddie would be mad in this moment because a lot of teenagers now days are not respectful and want to do whatever to make people mad. I can relate this to a time a few years ago when me and my family went to the movies and there was a group of teens that were talking loudly and screaming and laughing while everyone else in the movie theatre was getting annoyed. My dad was fed up with them and stood up and called all of them out in the movie theatre and screamed at them to shut up. After the movie a bunch of people thanked my dad as we were walking out because of how annoying they were being. This relates to Eddie’s moment because Eddie was fed up with the teenagers not listening and snapped on them and they all ran away just like the kids in the movie theater shut up and did not say a word after.

This scene is important and relatable too. In this part of the book Mickey a friend of Eddie’s Dad is over and it is Eddie’s birthday and he decides to hang him upside down and give Eddie his birthday punches. Eddie is squirming and does not like it very much and when he gets down he feels embarrassed so he punches Mickey and runs to his mom because he was upset. I do not get why he was so upset because a lot of my family members used to do this all the time to me and my brother and other kids in the family when we were younger and most of us didn’t mind it, we actually found it funny.

I think this is an important scene because when he is on his arrival to heaven he does not feel anything. No worries, no pain nothing of the sorts. It says on this page “Eddie exhaled and tried to pull himself up. Surprisingly, his back did not hurt”. This shows that he could not feel any pain in the moment and he had nothing to really sorry about physically. I also think this is an important scene because he said the sky kept changing colors and this makes me wonder if this is really what you see as you go to heaven

In this part of the book Eddie and his partners in the war are captured and they are trying to figure out a way to escape and this is when Eddie comes up with the idea to use Juggling as a distraction to the guards so they can attack them and then escape. This is important because it shows how they all made it out of being held captive and how they all lived through the war when they could have died

During this time Eddie sees a figure in the fire and wants to go in and get the figure but could have died and the captain ends up coming over and trying to pull away and eventually ends up shooting his leg to get him out of there so they can all survive

This part of the book is showing what is happening on earth while Eddie is in Heaven and his two co-workers are both upset that Eddie is gone. They are going on about there normal days but Eddie not being there really affected them both because Eddie had a big impact on the people he was around because that is the kind of guy he was. It also shows that they looked up to him kind of like a father figure because he was so old but he taught them things and he gave them money and made their work experiences better.

This is when Eddie is up in heaven and the second person he meets is his captain and the captain explains to him why he is the second person he is meeting and Eddie didn’t understand how he killed the captain but the captain explained to him that life is full of sacrifices and Eddie cared more about himself in that moment and not his crew and Eddie could have killed them all if he went into that fire or if the captain didn’t get out and check the road before driving on it with All 4 of them

This is when Eddie was able to see his dad in heaven at the diner but he was not able to get to him and talk to him. Although as we know in the past Eddie was not too close to his father he still loved him and wanted to be able to talk to him and I would assume ask him questions.

I think the quote from this section of the book “All parents damage their children” is a very impactful and true quote. In some way during the span of a child and a parents life, I believe at one point the parent will hurt the child in some way not physically but mentally and it will damage the child but make them a better person and teach them what not to do. I also believe this is an important scene because it tells us that Eddie’s dad was not around much as a kid and was not a good father towards Eddie.

This a very important part of the story because this is when Ruby introduces herself to Eddie while he is working on the pier and he cannot put a her face to the name that she gave him right away. “Ruby” he knew he had seen her somewhere but just didn’t know where and when he finally realized he had seen her in a photograph with the entrance of the pier and her in it and then he finally realizes that this is the Ruby, where the name of the Pier came from

This is important because it is when Marguerite teaches Eddie the lesson that he’ll love is unconditional and special. Which relates to Eddie loving Marguerite so much even after she passed

They did not find anything to important but the few things they found was a black bow tie that he wore to his wedding, a Chinese resteraunt menu where him and Marguerite went on a date, a deck of cards which reminded him of his dad and a letter with his army medals which was a symbol of his relashonship with Marguerite

This is when Eddie meets Tala. Tala reveals to him that she was the shadow in the fire that he wanted to save. Tala was not upset with Eddie but she was wanted to teach him a lesson. When Eddie went to go save the little girl on the ride at the pier he said he felt hands. These were the hands of tala. She explains to Eddie that she was hiding from the people that were trying to hurt her, which she said was “Sundlong”

This is when Eddie asks Tala if he saved the girl on the ride at the pier that was falling and Eddie finds out that he did save her and even though he felt someone pulling and not pushing her out of the way Tala tells him that it was her pulling him to heaven and he really did push the girl out of the way and saved her
