Michael Phelps is the most decorated Olympian of all time had a very strong mentality. The first thing the article mentions is Focusing on what matters. Phelps and another swimmer were beefing and while the other swimmer was focusing on what Phelps was doing Phelps was focused on training and the results not the banter that the other competitor was saying. This led to Phelps prevailing and winning the gold an event he lost to that swimmer in the previous olympics. During the race Les Clos the other race was looking at Phelps and focusing on him while Phelps was focusing on getting to the wall first. He was avoiding the trap of getting caught up into drama, instead he was focused on winning the race and letting his swimming and winning do the talking.

John wall is the one of the best point guards in the NBA right now and has being using metacognition since before he got in the lead. he got injured about 2 years ago and couldn't play or practice which upsetting him. it wasn't just his first injury it was his seventh one which he thought he would never play again, but he had a plan. so before he could get on the court again he had to go through two surgeries which would make him sit out another year. after all the surgeries he said he was ready but mentally his body wasn't ready, during games while his team plays he has to go to rehab while his team struggles fighting for a playoff spot. which made him want to work even harder to get back out their but all he do was just wait until he was fully recovered. finally after not being to play since December 2018 he fully recovered and gets back on the court but with a new team, new mindset and same mentality. he put up 22 points in a big win and first game back so i can say he had his whole recovery planned.

A timeline of John Wall’s injury history with the Washington Wizards.

George Mumford was a key part to the legendary era of Micheal Jordan in the 93/94 season. He explained that mediation is about finding that potential in oneself. With his own struggles he had a lot of addiction that drove him to realize that he needed to be focusing on finding himself. He joined Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn’s Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction program, where he kept preaching meditation. Mr.Mumford would work on having a whole basketball team to breathe as one. He explained it as letting it set you free. He always emphasized on everyone trying to practice the ability to keep eachother healthy, and how it’s always about competing against one's self other than an opponent.

(ABC news, LAUREN EFFRON

Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant's Meditation Coach on How to Be 'Flow Ready' and Get in the Zone, April 6, 2016)

https://abcnews.go.com/Health/michael-jordan-kobe-bryants-meditation-coach-flow-ready/story?id=38175801

Oscar Valdez

Winfrey has spoke about how meditation and remaining open to continuous learning has helped her mentally and guide her to be successful in her career. She opens up about how she had to defeat the world and herself from all the negative thoughts that she had received but she overcame the fear and wants to help others on how to take opportunities as a way to learn about themselves instead of shutting it away and having doubts. She knows the feelings as she had experienced it before, she wants to encourage others who had felt disconnected and distance from themselves and the world, to overcome and defeat. And to take risks and invite the unknown to help discover their inner self. To beat fears or doubt, be confident and strong and keep learning. Be lost in awareness and consciousness to get through trials and errors.

Winfrey, B. O. (2016, June 15). What Oprah Knows About the Power of Meditation.
