My Pledge- I pledge to have a healthy digital diet by decreasing the time I spend on my phone.

S-SPECIFIC- I would want to cut down the time I spend on my mobile screen by half till the end of next month.
M-MEASURABLE - I will tract the time I spend on my phone using the app called ‘QualityTime’ that would monitor and get real time reports on how much time I spend on my smartphone and doing various activities. 
A-ATTAINABLE- I have the access to the app and can use the information daily to review the digital time spent by me.
R-REALISTIC- I realize that I spending more time on smartphone is in a way linked to my global footprint as charging spews out megatons of greenhouse gases.
T-TIME-BOUND- I would want to reduce the time I spend digitally by half till the end of next month.

Other Examples include:

  • I pledge to avoid using plastic covers
  • I pledge to pick up any trash I see on my way

Okay , now what's a SMART Pledge? I hope you all know about it but for those who don't, I would like just briefly explain.
A SMART goal is used to help guide goal setting. SMART is an acronym that stands for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Timely. Therefore, a SMART goal incorporates all of these criteria to help focus your efforts and increase the chances of achieving your goal.

Using this goal-setting method , Today I would like to pledge as an individual to combat the climate crisis. I hope you all are with me on this journey. 
               There is no place like home and the earth is what we have in common as HOME. I believe it is the responsibility of each one of us to put in our efforts to safeguard the earth and pass it on to future generation 
Now, the onus is on us. If we each one makes small changes in our daily life, as far as possible, we could make a difference 

Here is how we could combat climate change

 Encourage Renewable Energy for Local Government Operations: Set a goal to maximize the use of public energy generated from renewable sources (e.g. solar, wind, small hydro).

 Realize Benefits of Recycling and Other Climate Smart Solid Waste Management Practices: Promote reuse and ensure access to comprehensive recycling. Adopt a green purchasing program. 

Promote Climate Protection Through Community Land Use Tools: Keep development low-carbon-intensity and resilient to climatic change. Update land use policies, building codes, community plans in ways that reduce sprawl, minimize development in floodplains, and protect forests. 

Plan for Adaptation to Unavoidable Climate Change: Identify risks to government facilities and functions (e.g. water supply, sewers), and factor into long-term investments and decision-making. Develop a Climate Adaptation Plan, with priority to the most vulnerable areas.


 Support a Green Innovation Economy: Incorporate climate protection and sustainability into economic development plans. Encourage work force training and public education for energy efficiency and renewable energy. 


 Inform and Inspire the Public: Lead by example. Publicize local government  and public commitment to reducing energy. 


Evolving Process: Be willing to consider new ideas and adapt existing approaches.


Here is my pledge
I solemnly pledge to: dedicate my time and efforts to protect Earth and combat climate crisis and make sure to follow all the below instructions

At home 
  •  Turn off all lights when not in use
  •  Reduce or eliminate heating/air conditioning usage
  •  Recycle
  •  Compost
  •  Plant your own garden
 Replace bottled water with Reusable water bottle
  •  Wash clothes in cold water
  •  Unplug electronics/appliances when not using
  •  Repair vs buy new products
  •  Use your own shopping bags 

Transportation 

  •  Walk or ride bicycle to work 
  •  Ride share when you travel 
  •  Telecommute 
  •  Replace some car driving with walking 
  •  Replace some car driving with electric bike 
  •  Use more public transportation

At the end make sure I go eco friendly

S-SPECIFIC- I would like to focus on reducing / combating climate change by following Pledge Home and creating awareness among the people in my society by protests

A-ATTAINABLE- Nothing in Impossible ! With the help of the public by inspiring them and making them understand the issue we can attain what we desire. I am going make sure the public , the government understand this issue and work towards an eco friendly planet

R-REALISTIC- I realize the time is ticking ! But its not too late we can act towards mitigating this issue , by unity... I will make sure I follow Pledge Transportation which will actually help in reducing the carbon emissions , the green house gases and what not it will definitely bring in a lot of change if we all follow. Who is with me ??
T-TIME-BOUND- Time is less , but if we stick together , act unitedly we could combat climate crisis once for all and live in harmony

I pledge to protect and preserve the environment. I shall strive to keep it free from all deadly crises. I shall be loyal to all the flora and fauna around me by not exploiting them.
The following steps will keep us on track
. Plant a tree once a month.
Or at least take care of the trees and plants around you.
. Speak up, it will help a lot. Someone will surely learn a lesson.
. Renewable Energy will help in re-creating a better environment
. Energy-efficient appliances are a great step toward our goal. Investing in them is profitable
. Buy devices that have a long shelf life. 
.  Pull out the plugs to keep out the heat from our dear planet.
. Fluorescent light bulbs is a great change we can have. 
We all can achieve this goal by taking even the smallest steps. It will give great results in future. Come on chums, come on, this pledge will lead you on a path of creating a better world 🌍
